UTSA Lands JUCO Star Jimmori Robinson

UTSA Lands JUCO Star Jimmori Robinson

The UTSA Roadrunners landed JUCO star Jimmori Robinson Tuesday morning. The three-star edge rusher from Alexandria, Virginia will be joining the Roadrunners for the 2021 Season. Robinson is the 19th ranked JUCO player in the nation, as well as the third-ranked edge rusher according to 247Sports. Read UTSA Lands JUCO Star for more.

Community College

Robinson began his collegiate career in 2019 at Dodge City Community College. He registered 20 tackles in eight games in his time as a Conquistador. Robinson would later transfer to Monroe Community College following a zero-win season at Dodge City. Unfortunately, Robinson and Monroe CC had their 2020-2021 season voided due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this means that Robinson will still have three years of eligibility as a Roadrunner.

Robinson had originally committed to UTSA on December 15, however, 13 days later he decided to de-commit. He took this time to feel out more offers, but he eventually returned to the Roadrunners and signed on June 29th. Robinson had also received offers from programs such as Auburn, South Carolina, and Texas Tech just to name a few.

Immediate Impact

This signing of Robinson will be a big boost to UTSA’s defense. His addition will also add some youth to the defensive side of the ball, as UTSA started eight seniors on defense in 2020. The Roadrunners allowed 25.7 points/game in 2020 which ranked them 41st in the nation. UTSA only had a +31-point differential on the season. This was good enough to earn them seven victories and a bowl appearance, however, if the Roadrunners want to be a dominant force in Conference USA, they must be able to keep opponents out of the end zone. This signing will surely help achieve that goal. Robinson will look to make an immediate impact for the ‘Runners as he will be eligible for this upcoming season.
