The University of Miami continued to build its roster by adding another talented player through the transfer portal. One of the areas that Miami struggled with last season was consistency catching the football. In the Cheez-It Bowl against Oklahoma, the Hurricanes had a few big drops that could have won the game. That led Miami to have interest in former Oklahoma receiver Charleston Rambo that entered the transfer portal shortly after the Cotton Bowl.
Rambo Is Bringing More Speed
The addition of Rambo to a Miami offense that will return the majority of starters is big. Miami opens up the season against Alabama and Rambo is one of few players in college football to have scored on the Crimson Tide. Rambo’s best season came as a sophomore scoring five touchdowns on 43 receptions for 732 yards. While production dipped as a junior, Miami is hopeful that he can regain his sophomore form and be very productive.
As previously mentioned, Miami is set to return the majority of starters on offense notably quarterback D’Eriq King. The two actually played against each other while King was still at Houston during Rambo’s sophomore season. King also plays much similar to Jalen Hurts who was the quarterback at Oklahoma during Rambo’s best season. The return of Mike Harley will also help Rambo, after having his best season as a Hurricane with seven touchdowns. The two together combine to be one of the fastest duos in the ACC and will help push one another.
Year Two Under Lashlee
The Hurricanes averaged 34 points last season with a new offensive coordinator and new quarterback after only having four spring practices. When Rhett Lashlee took over SMU in his first season, the Mustangs averaged 30 points but took a big jump to 41 points per game in year two. The Hurricanes would be in the elite territory if the same trend was to happen at Miami with Lashlee and Miami’s offense. With Rambo being at Miami for spring practice, there will be enough time to get familiar with the offense.
