Alabama’s dominance continues to be at play as they have three of the top five players in our Heisman Rankings with Mac Jones, Devonta Smith, and Najee Harris. All three filled out the stat sheet as the Tide won another conference championship. However, Kyle Trask had another 400-yard performance with no turnovers. But, will that be enough to put him over the top. Let’s take a look as we unveil our Final 2020 Heisman rankings.
Even though Trevor Lawrence is still in our top five, it will take a Heisman miracle for him to win with the three games that he’s missed. Also, preseason hopeful Justin Fields had his worst performance of his career in completing less than 50% of his throws with two interceptions and no touchdowns against Northwestern in the Big 10 Championship Game. Having said that, let’s look at the extended leader board in our Final 2020 Heisman rankings.

Top Five Candidates
1. Mac Jones
QB | Alabama Next Game: 1/1 vs Notre Dame
Jones led the Tide to the perfect season with a 52-46 win over Florida in the SEC Championship Game. Even if by a small amount, Jones outplayed Trask in the game. Jones had 418 yards through the air with five touchdown passes to his Heisman finalist teammates. His statistics are not quite at the level of Trask in terms of total touchdowns and yards passing, but Jones had the element of the running game to take that away from him at times.

2. Devonta Smith
WR | Alabama Next Game: 1/1 vs Notre Dame
Smith is proving not only can a wide receiver make it as a finalist, but has a real chance to win the trophy. Smith had another excellent performance in the Championship game with 15 receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Even though Smith winning the award would be incredibly on-brand for 2020, make no mistake that he is incredibly worthy of winning the award.

3. Kyle Trask
QB | Florida Next Game: 12/30 vs Oklahoma
Trask had a tremendous performance against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. He threw for 408 yards and three touchdown passes. However, Trask and the Gators came up just short. Trask stats are eye-popping with 43 touchdown passes and just five interceptions on the season. But, will that be enough to get him the Heisman Trophy?

4. Trevor Lawrence
QB | Clemson Next Game: 1/1 vs Ohio State
Lawrence was able to avenge the Tigers’ only loss of the season with a dominant performance against Notre Dame. Lawrence threw for over 300 yards and a couple of touchdowns against the Irish. However, the game was more about how dominant the Clemson defense was than Lawrence’s performance. With Lawrence missing three games, it’s difficult to see a path for him to win this award.

5. Najee Harris
QB | Ohio State Next Game: 1/1 vs Notre Dame
Harris sure does know how to make an entrance. He was the best player on the field in the SEC Championship Game. His five-touchdown, 200 all-purpose yard performance was the difference in the game. And, with that Harris jumps back into the race at number five. It will be interesting to see how many votes that Jones, Smith, and Harris steal from each other in the voting.
