Thomas Cole Signs With UCLA

Thomas Cole Signs With UCLA

UCLA is filling a position of yearly need with a new offensive line signing. Thomas Cole signs with UCLA and the Bruins get a tackle with good size and a high ceiling in the future.

In a class with no four or five star recruits, Cole is one of UCLA’s more significant signees for 2021. The Bruins are likely returning all of their starting offensive linemen next season, with the possible exception of grad transfer Paul Grattan. But depth has regularly been a challenge. That gives Cole time to grow into the college position without pressing him into immediate time.

He made his commitment to the Bruins in June.

Cole is a three-star recruit out of San Luis Obispo High. The 247 stand alone rankings have him as a four star. At 6-7, 265 pounds he has the prototypical body frame of a tackle with plenty of room to bulk up and fill out. He is athletic for his size and shows good lateral footwork.

He only played his senior year on the offensive line after converting from the tight end position as his body grew.

Cole committed to UCLA in June. He had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Baylor, Michigan, and SMU. He also had an offer from Cal. Ironically he was being recruited by former UCLA offensive line coach Angus McClure.
