Ohio State Gets WR Marvin Harrison Jr.

Ohio State Raesjon Davis

Ohio State gets four-star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. during the Early Signing Period.

Harrison, son of the Indianapolis Colts star receiver Marvin Harrison Sr., turned down Florida, Penn State, and Michigan. He also turned down Syracuse, where his father is second all-time in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

According to 247Sports Composite, Harrison is the 91st-ranked recruit in the 2021 class. He is the 15th-ranked wide receiver in the class and the fifth-ranked recruit out of Pennsylvania.

Harrison played for St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia and was teammates with five-star quarterback and Ohio State commit Kyle McCord.

Harrison is six-foot-three-inches and 190 pounds but has the frame to add even more weight. He runs a 4.64-second 40-yard dash, so he’s not the fastest prospect in the class. But he is a quick and precise route runner and he has incredibly strong hands. He can bring down anything that is within his radius.

In Harrison’s last season in high school, he caught 47 passes for 1,033 yards and 15 touchdowns with McCord throwing to him.

As crowded as the wide receiver room is at Ohio State right now, Harrison won’t get much playing time right away. But once the top-tier talent at Ohio State goes to the NFL, he has the makings of a great slot receiver. But Brian Hartline, the wide receivers coach at Ohio State, is already proving that he can be an effective coach at the position. Not only does he bring in top talent, but he has also helped develop some gems at the position.

Harrison will join Julian Fleming, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Mookie Cooper, and Gee Scott Jr. from the 2020 class, as well as Emeka Egbuka and Jayden Ballard from the 2021 class. That makes seven four- or five-star wide receiver recruits in the two most recent classes will wear scarlet and gray next season.
