The Hurricanes defensive line received a huge addition with the signing of five star defensive tackle, Leonard Taylor. As a top ten player in 247 Composite rankings landing Taylor is no small feat for Manny Diaz. The Hurricanes are in elite company being one of only five schools with multiple five star players in their class.
Leonard Taylor comes out of Miami Palmetto high school, where he recorded 26 tackles for loss and 11 sacks as a junior. The six foot four 265 pound defensive tackle is a former basketball player but also has a background in martial arts. Miami was able to win a tough recruiting battle for Leonard, winning the signature over Florida.
What It Means For Miami
Miami continues to add premium defensive line help in a conference that produces some of the best. Taylor could possibly contribute into the rotation as a freshman being that he will be set to enroll at Miami soon. The Hurricanes defensive tackle unit only has one senior and due to covid could possibly return. This spring will determine where Taylor matches up with some of Miami’s other talented interior players. His frame has enough room to add good weight which the Hurricanes will look to add this upcoming Spring.
