Five-Star James Williams Signs With Miami

Manny Diaz adds more to his secondary with the addition of this latest signing. Five-star James Williams signs with Miami. The much-heralded safety comes to the Canes out of American Heritage High School. Keeping the best players in the tri-county area of South Florida has been a priority and this signing is a big win for Miami. Williams is a five-star prospect and the 13th ranked overall player in the 247 Sports Composite. Diaz refused to give up fighting for the Opa Locka native even after he decommitted from the Hurricanes. On July 21st, Williams would again commit to the Hurricanes and shut down his recruitment process.

Stacking Talent

The addition of Williams is much different than any other player Miami has in their secondary. At six-foot-five-inches and 218 pounds, it’s rare to find a safety with that size and fluidity that Williams possesses. As a junior Williams intercepted six passes along with making 62 tackles. The battle for the uber-talented safety came down to Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, and Miami finally prevailing.

Miami will return Jim Thorpe semifinalist Bubba Bolden at safety and multi-year starter Gurvan Hall. The position will get a big boost with the addition of Williams as he gives Miami another high-level player in the secondary with ball skills. With his size, there are talks that Williams could potentially change positions in the future but his ability at his size to control where the ball is thrown is another reason why he is ranked as the top safety in his class.

About Hebreu Maxis

My name is pronounced just like the book in the Bible (Hebrew) but someone at the hospital decided to replace the W, with a U. I am 23 years old at the moment, I am also a recent graduate of Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, TN. I am a South Florida native, more specifically Pompano Beach, Florida. I remember watching Sean Taylor's highlights on the news in 2003 and it was a wrap after that, my obsession with the game began. I'm always looking to connect with others who share a love for the sport so feel free to reach out.
