Miami Signs Chantz Williams and Jalen Rivers

Manny Diaz’s first recruiting class as a head coach has yielded good results landing two highly sough after prospects. The Hurricanes add much needed depth on offensive and defensive line. Chantz Williams and Jalen Rivers both come out of Oakleaf high school in Jacksonville, Florida.

Williams is a 6-4, 238 pound defensive end that was rated by 247Sports as the fourth best defensive end in the nation. In addition to being a top 100 recruit, he leaves Oakleaf High School as it’s all time leader in blocked shots in basketball. Hoop dreams will be put on hold as Williams will be participating in the Under Armour All- American game. The talented pass rusher selected the Hurricanes over offers from Florida, Georgia, LSU and Florida State.

Jalen Rivers

Rivers is a 6-6, 330 pound offensive tackle who is rated as the 144th best player in the nation by 247Sports. The standout offensive tackle has been on recruiting radars since his freshman season and was selected to play in the Under Armour All-American game. He committed to the Hurricanes over offers from Florida, Florida State and Georgia.

Both players have fulfilled their high school graduation requirements and will be enrolling early at Miami. Williams should see early playing time as a freshman, even in pass rushing situations. Rivers instantly boosts Miami’s depth on the offensive line and could play at either guard or tackle position.
