Three-star TE commit Jonathan Odom signs with Florida

Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators coaching staff have signed a solid tight end in the class. Three-star tight end and Florida commit Jonathan Odom has signed his NLI to the University of Florida. This is a nice signing for the Gators as Odom is an underrated tight end with tons of upside. Mullen likes Odom’s skill set as he can help out on blocking. The Gators are coming off a season with Kyle Pitts being considered as the #1 tight end in the country. Odom is the only tight end that is expected to sign with Florida today. He’s also the fifth tight end Mullen has signed at Florida with Kyle Pitts, Lucas Krull, Keon Zipperer, and Dante Lang.

Who is Jonathan Odom?

Odom is a three-star tight end out of Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida. The Florida tight end commit is one of the top recruits in his position in the state of Florida. He is a big, physical tight end with some nice potential. Odom still has some work to do as a receiver but he’s got the talent to succeed in the passing game. He’s a sound blocker which could help him see early playing time with the Florida Gators. Odom signed with Florida over Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisconsin.

First, on Rivals, Odom is the 91st ranked recruit in Florida. Also, he is the 14th ranked tight end in the country. Comparatively, on ESPN, Odom is the 129th ranked recruit in Florida and the 22nd ranked tight end in the country. The Gators have added a big tight end who could really develop into a solid player. However, with Zipperer and Pitts on the roster, Odom should have plenty of time to develop into the tight end that Mullen wants.
