2022 Week 11 Heisman Rankings

Week 12 2019 Heisman Rankings

For this week in the Heisman race, it was about survival. For Oklahoma and Jalen Hurts their playoff and Heisman hopes were fading fast as Oklahoma trailed Baylor 28-3. But, Hurts turned in a fantastic performance in the second half and kept everything alive for him. Meanwhile, it was a reversal of fortunes for Tua Tagovailoa as he was razor-sharp in a well-played first half until the final possession when he injured his hip. One now only wonders if that was the last college football image of Tagovailoa we’ll ever see. With that being said, let’s see where these two landed in our week 12 2019 Heisman rankings.

Amazingly, Joe Burrow seems to get better and better each week. He threw for nearly 500 yards in LSU’s 10th win of the year. He certainly is the prohibitive favorite at this point. Justin Fields has quietly put up some staggering numbers this season. It’s incredible to consider the fact that he has only one interception this deep into the season. Now, without further adieux, let’s unveil our week 12 2019 Heisman rankings?

Top Five Candidates

1. Joe Burrow

QB | LSU                                                      Next Game: 11/23 vs Arkansas

LSU has developed a bit of a 2018 Oklahoma problem in terms of the defense forcing the offense to put up big numbers. To which, Burrow is certainly doing the needful. That is to the tune of 489 yards and five touchdowns. This week, Burrow should have the opportunity to get a little breather as Arkansas comes calling.

2. Justin Fields

QB | Ohio State                                                      Next Game: 11/23 vs Penn State

The last of the tune-ups for Fields and Ohio State has concluded with their 35-point win over Rutgers. Fields actually had one of his best games statistically from a passing perspective with 305 yards and four touchdowns. Now, the Buckeyes host Penn State and face Michigan on the road to end the season.

3. Jalen Hurts

QB | Oklahoma                                                      Next Game: 11/23 vs TCU

Hurts played about as bad as he could have in the first half in committing two turnovers and aiding a significant deficit for the Sooners. But, as quickly as he struggled, he played flawless football in the 2nd half for Oklahoma. The Sooners will face another difficult defense on Saturday night as Oklahoma hosts TCU.

4. Jonathan Taylor

RB | Wisconsin                                                      Next Game: 11/23 vs Purdue

After having a little bit of a mid-season slump, according to Taylor’s standard, he’s roared back with over 450 yards in the last two weeks against Iowa and Nebraska. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Taylor have a third straight 200-yard effort this week against Purdue. That would likely set up a winner take all matchup for the Big Ten West next week against Minnesota.

5. Justin Herbert

QB | Oregon                                                           Next Game: 11/23 at Arizona State

Herbert was largely the beneficiary of Tagovailoa’s season-ending injury to get to the fifth spot in our rankings. However, there’s no question that Herbert has had a fantastic senior season. The Ducks are in the thick of the playoff race but this weekend faces their toughest remaining game as they face Arizona State on the road.
