Week Seven Heisman Rankings

2022 Final Heisman rankings

The wacky world of the Heisman Trophy had more movement in store for us this week. While the top five remained unchanged, the top five shifted as Jalen Hurts and Joe Burrow took center stage in high-profile matchups. Let’s look at how that movement played out in our week seven 2019 Heisman rankings.

Burrow was instrumental in LSU’s big home victory over Florida on Saturday and moved up to number two in the associated press national rankings just behind Alabama. Could we see a similar shakeout in this week’s poll? Now, let’s see how the shuffling finished in our week seven 2019 Heisman rankings.

Top Five Candidates

1. Tua Tagovailoa

QB | Alabama                                                           Next Game: 10/19 vs Tennessee

Tagovailoa actually proved he was human this week in throwing his first interception of the season. However, that was his only blemish as he threw four more touchdowns in the Tide’s 47-28 win over Texas A&M. He will return home to face the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday.

2. Joe Burrow

QB | LSU                                                      Next Game: 10/19 at Mississippi State

Burrow makes the biggest jump in our poll moving from fourth to second. He had an outstanding game and showed why he was one of the best quarterbacks in the country in picking apart Florida’s defense. Burrow and the Tigers look to be on a collision course with Alabama in a few weeks. But, for now, they’ll face the reeling Mississippi State Bulldogs this weekend.

3. Jalen Hurts

QB | Oklahoma                                                      Next Game: 10/19 vs West Virginia

Hurts had another up and down performance for the Sooners. The good was four total touchdowns and 367 yards from scrimmage against Texas on Saturday. But, the bad included two turnovers deep in Longhorns territory and nearly a third. It’s clear Oklahoma will not have to rely on the offense to put up astronomical numbers this year. However, Hurts will look to get back on track as West Virginia travels to Norman on Saturday.

4. Jonathan Taylor

RB | Wisconsin                                                      Next Game: 10/19 at Illinois

Taylor was held under 100 yards for the first time all season. But, he managed to reach the end zone two more times as the Badgers dominated Michigan State. Much like Alabama and LSU, Wisconsin and Ohio State are on a collision course for one another as they face one another in two weeks, For now, Taylor and the Badgers head to the road to play Illinois this weekend.
