Carson May Makes it Official, Signs with Iowa

May committed to the Hawkeyes last June and took a recent official visit to Iowa City on December 10th. His high school stats are eye-popping, as he threw for over 3,000 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2021, averaging just over 10 yards per attempt. May added nearly 500 rushing yards with 11 touchdowns on the ground that same year. He is also off back-to-back 3,000 or more yard seasons and led his high school to the playoffs three years in a row. He torched high school defenses in both phases of offense and will be a great addition to the Hawkeye quarterbacks room.

The Oklahoma native is listed at 6’-5” and 220 pounds. While he doesn’t classify as a “dual-threat” quarterback, he can get out of the pocket and make plays happen with his feet. May can reportedly run a sub 4.7 40-yard dash, which is impressive for a tall quarterback. His ability to move can be pivotal for Brian Ferentz’s offense. The other thing May has is confidence. He calls himself the number one quarterback in Oklahoma in his Twitter bio. A confident quarterback is critical to success, and May brings that to Iowa City. Although his lone Power Five offer came from Iowa, he caught the eyes of many in his senior year. It led to him getting the bump to a four-star grade. May will begin his career at the University of Iowa next season.
