Ohio State 2021 Recruiting Wrap-Up

Ohio State 2021 Recruiting Wrap

Ohio State can wrap up it’s 2021 recruiting class after National Signing Day.

The Buckeyes brought in most of their targets in the early signing period in December. But since National Signing Day has come and gone, Ohio State is more or less done recruiting for the season.

There is only one player that Ohio State targeted that has yet to commit. Buckeye fans were hoping J.T. Tuimoloau would sign his letter of intent, but he is still mulling his decision.

We will talk more about Tuimoloau later, but for now the Buckeyes have a plethora of blue-chip recruits coming in this fall. Now that Ohio State can wrap up their 2021 recruiting class, they have made some impressive stride’s towards their next National Championship.

Ohio State 2021 Recruiting Wrap-Up

Ohio State 2021 Recruiting Overview

The Buckeyes had the second-best recruiting class in the nation this year, according to 247Sports. The only program with a better class is Alabama, who had the highest ranked recruiting class in college football history. Ohio State has moved up to second from last years’ fifth-ranked class.

The Buckeyes had five five-star recruits and 13 four-star recruits. Only Alabama had more five-star players join their program. There were a few schools with more four-star recruits than Ohio State, like LSU and Oregon, but they had fewer five-stars and more total commitments.

As for the Big Ten, Ohio State was first by a wide margin. Michigan came in second, but was tenth in the country. While Ohio State landed five five-star recruits, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Maryland had one each. This means the Buckeyes had more five-star recruits than the rest of the conference combined.

Recruiting Highlights

Ohio State has nabbed some of the best players in the country at their respective positions. Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, guard Donovan Jackson, and running back TreVeyon Henderson are each the best at their positions, according to 247 Sports.

They kept the number one player from the state of Ohio, Jack Sawyer. They also got the top-ranked player from Missouri, Jakailin Johnson.

Overall, the Buckeyes landed 10 players who were in the top five across the country at their positions. They also got 17 players who were one of the top-five players in their states.

What About J.T. Tuimoloau

The country’s top player, according to 247Sports composite, has had his eye on Ohio State for a while now. Experts on 247Sports all predict that Tuimoloau will eventually sign with Ohio State. But he has been inactive during the early signing period and on National Signing Day. Why won’t he sign his letter of intent?

The simple reason is that he hasn’t visited Columbus yet. Ohio State is the only school on his final list that he has yet to see in person. He probably wants to visit the campus before he makes his final decision.

Tuimoloau is still likely to sign with Ohio State, but he seemingly wants to visit the campus first. Since this is the biggest decision of his life, it’s a wise idea to wait for all the information before he makes the final choice.

Hopefully, things will open up so he can travel to Ohio and visit the campus. He has until April to sign, so he still has a few months.

If Tuimoloau joins the already star-studded 2021 recruiting class, then Ohio State will be fun to watch over the next few years.
