Tyreak Sapp

The Florida Gators host the Arkansas Razorbacks this Saturday.  They are back in the Swamp after a huge win against the Georgia Bulldogs. The Gators dominated the Bulldogs 44-28 and are now the #1 team in SEC East. The Gators will go up against another formidable opponent the Arkansas Razorbacks this Saturday.

Florida is 9-2 against Arkansas. However, they lost their last meeting in 2016. The Gators will host the Razorbacks on Saturday night and unfortunately, the Razorbacks will be without their head coach.  As Sam Pittman, tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week and will not be able to coach this game.

This should be an interesting game as the Gators will be playing against their former starting quarterback, Feleipe Franks. He was the Gators starting quarterback in 2018 and the beginning of 2019 until Franks suffered a season-ending injury against Kentucky. After the emergence of Kyle Trask, Franks transferred to Arkansas and became their starting quarterback.

Razorbacks Offense

As the Razorbacks travel to Gainesville without Pittman.  They will now be led by their defensive coordinator, Barry Odom, who’s in his first season at Arkansas. Odom was the head coach at Missouri 2016- 2019.

The Arkansas offense will be led by the former Gator and graduate transfer quarterback Feleipe Franks.  In fact, Franks has had a really nice senior season for the Razorbacks. Franks has completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 1,428 yards, 14 touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Arizona State transfer Trelon Smith is the lead rusher for the Razorbacks. Smith has 70 carries and has rushed for 323 yards on the season. Senior running back Rakeem Boyd has rushed for 253 yards for 70 yards and two touchdowns.

Sophomore wide receiver Treylon Burks is the lead receiver for Arkansas. Burks has 31 receptions for 461 yards and five touchdowns. Arkansas tight end Hudson Henry is another big playmaker. Henry has 15 catches for 91 yards and a touchdown.

Razorbacks Defense

On defense, the Arkansas Razorbacks have looked much improved from last season. Their defense has the sixth-ranked scoring defense in the SEC. Redshirt-senior linebacker Grant Morgan is the leading tackler for the Razorbacks. Morgan has 70 tackles on the season including five tackles for loss, one sack, and an interception.

Redshirt-freshman Hudson Clark leads the Razorbacks in the interceptions with three on the season. All three of the interceptions came in one game against the Ole Miss Rebels. Clark will also be put on scholarship next January.

Gators Offense

The Gators look to stay hot after their convincing win over the Georgia Bulldogs. The Gators offense has been the story of the season as they have been averaging over 42 points per game and have the second-ranked scoring offense in the SEC.

The Florida offense is led by their redshirt-senior quarterback Kyle Trask. The Texas gunslinger has had an incredible season and is now in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy. Trask has completed 68.6% of his passes for 1,815 yards with 22 touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Florida rushing attack is led by their starting junior running back Dameon Pierce. The Georgia native has 49 carries for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

While the Gators passing attack is what has helped this offense be so effective. However, the Gators could potentially be without their top receiver. Tight end Kyle Pitts is questionable after with a head injury. Pitts has been awesome for Florida this season as he has 24 receptions for 414 yards and eight touchdowns.

Dan Mullen will need some of the other guys to step up if Pitts is unavailable. Senior wide receiver Kadarius Toney is a player that should get lots of touches this Saturday. Toney has 29 catches for 339 yards and six touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Trevon Grimes has played really well in the past few games. Grimes had 13 receptions for 194 yards and three touchdowns.

Gators Defense

As the Florida defense continues to improve which became more evident with their convincing win over Georgia. They did give up two scores but played very well the rest of the game and forced three interceptions.

Redshirt-junior linebacker Ventrell Miller leads the Gators in tackles. Miller has 37 tackles including 22 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack. Linebacker Brenton Cox also leads Florida’s defense in sacks (2.0) and tackles for loss (4.5).
