Kentucky Signs Four Star Michael Drennen

Four Wildcats Declare For NFL Draft

A Huge Late Pick Up For The Cats

Following this past season the Wildcats lost one of their all-time best players in Lynn Bowden. The Paul Hornung award winner set many school records in his time in Lexington. However Mark Stoops thinks they have a player who can help fill the void left by Bowden as Kentucky signs four star Michael Drennen II.

Another In The Ohio To Kentucky Pipeline

The 5-11 Drennen comes to the Wildcats from Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio. Rivals ranks him as the 210th best player in the country and tenth best all purpose back. However his 247 Sports ranking is even better. According to that service Drennen is the sixth best all purpose back in America.

He chose Kentucky over USC and a major selling point was the Cats’ ace recruiter Vince Marrow. However recently the UK assistant thought about leaving for a head coaching job at Youngstown State. Drennen wanted reassurance from Marrow and the staff he wasn’t leaving which is indeed what happened.

Another thing working in Kentucky’s favor is they recruited him since eighth grade and were the first to offer a scholarship.

How He Fits In

Drennan’s coming into a loaded backfield at Kentucky. The Cats have A. J. Rose returning for his senior season. In addition the Cats have Kavosiey Smoke, Christopher Rodriguez and Travis Tisdale all returning for their sophomore years. Between the three they ran for over 1,000 yards.

As far as this year’s class goes the Cats signed two running backs. Juthan McClain from Fairfield, Ohio and another player from the Buckeye State Torrance Davis. However Davis hasn’t signed his letter of intent. Even with the returning players it’s going to be tough to keep Drennan off the field.

Again the Wildcats 2020 class gets even stronger as Kentucky signs four star Michael Drennen II. Currently the Cats rank 22nd in the country by Rivals, a number that should go up with Drennen’s signing.
