Florida Gators 2020 Mock Recruiting Class 2.0

Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators have officially signed their top offensive line commit in four-star offensive guard Yousef Mugharbil.

The Florida Gators have had a really nice 2019 season in Dan Mullen’s second year as head coach. The Gators are 9-2 and the eleventh ranked team in the country in the College Football Playoffs. The Florida Gators are on a bye week so, the coaching staff will have a chance to go visit their commits and top recruits at their games. As of now, they have the 12th ranked recruiting class according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Florida has 20 commits in their class including 12 four-star recruits. The Gators can still sign 4-5 more recruits in their class. Here is the Florida Gators 2020 mock recruiting class 2.0.

Florida Gators 2020 Mock Recruiting Class 2.0

Quarterback: Anthony Richardson

Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators got their quarterback commit last summer in four-star quarterback Anthony Richardson. The Gainesville native has had an interesting recruitment. Richardson had committed to Florida as a junior. He backed off his commitment in the summer and then re-committed to Florida that same summer. Richardson has all the tools to be a very successful quarterback in Mullen’s system. He’s 6’4” 230 pounds with 4.64 speed. His arm talent has started to blossom as he throws a tight spiral and showed off his strength over the summer. He can move very well in the pocket and beat defenses with his legs when necessary. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Richardson is a four-star recruit. He also the 258th ranked recruit and the ninth ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country.

Running Back: Jo’Quavious Marks

The Gators running back room has a lot of talented underclassmen with Dameon Pierce, Iverson Clement and Nay’Quan Wright. Their running back recruiting board has suffered since five-star recruit Demarkcus Bowman committed to Clemson. Florida is still pushing for Bowman along with other committed backs like, Jo’Quavious Marks, Don Chaney, Robert Parrish and Jahmyr Gibbs. The Gators also recruiting four-star running back and son of Emmitt Smith, E.J. Smith. The Gators don’t appear to be leading for any running back but Florida will likely land a running back before December 18th. As of now, Marks is my pick. He’s currently committed to Mississippi State but Florida has been pushing hard. Another running back to watch for is former Florida State commit Jaylan Knighton.

Wide Receiver: Jaquavion Fraziars, Leonard Manuel, and Xzavier Henderson

The Gators have had some nice production from their wide receivers like Van Jefferson, Freddie Swain and others. They are also expected to add a few more receivers for next season. Jaquavion Fraziars has been one of Florida’s most solid commits during his recruiting process. Fraziars is also having a terrific senior season at Dunnellon High School. Leonard Manuel was a huge pick for the Gators last January. Manuel was a former five-star recruit and Miami commit before committing to UF. The only way Manuel doesn’t make it to campus is if he doesn’t qualify academically. Xzavier Henderson is the younger brother of Florida cornerback, C.J. Henderson. The four-star wide receiver’s recruitment will come down to the wire as Florida and Clemson are the favorites to land him. Other wide outs to watch for are Bryan Robinson, Kentron Poitier and Malik Heath.

Tight End: Jonathan Odom

Sophomore tight end Kyle Pitts has had a terrific season and has grabbed the nation’s attention. Florida has done a great job recruiting tight ends in the past two recruiting class. In the 2019 recruiting class, Florida signed Under Armour All-American, Keon Zipperer. The true freshman tight end already has a touchdown reception and had a nice game against Towson. Jesuit tight end Jonathan Odom committed to Florida last summer and hasn’t wavered on his commitment. The Gators will try to add another tight end in their recruiting class like five-star recruit Darnell Washington.

Offensive Line: Issiah Walker, Gerald Mincey, Jovens Janvier and Richard Leonard

Florida’s offensive line has been a disappointment and is their biggest weakness on offense. The Gators have some young talented offensive lineman singed last class and have another good offensive line recruiting class. Issiah Walker was the most recent Florida commit as he announced his commitment before the Auburn game. Gerald Mincey was a former Kentucky commit before flipping to Florida. Mincey hasn’t visited any other schools since committing to Florida. Jovens Janvier committed to Florida last June and has been a very solid commit since. Richard Leonard committed to the Florida Gators over Miami and Florida State before the season started. Top 100 recruit Marcus Dumervil is one of Florida’s most wanted recruits. LSU is the favorite to land the St. Thomas Aquinas offensive tackle with Florida on the outside looking in.

Defensive Tackle: Gervon Dexter, Johnnie Brown, Lamar Goods and Tim Smith

The defensive tackle recruiting board has been one of the biggest boards for the Florida Gators 2020 recruiting cycle. Gervon Dexter is a monster that Florida has had committed for close to a year. Georgia made a big push for the blue chip defensive tackle but Dexter is fully committed to Florida. Johnnie Brown committed to Florida last February and hasn’t wavered on his commitment. Brown is a top 200 recruit in the 2020 recruiting cycle. Lamar Goods is a Canadian-born recruit and is currently out of Connecticut. Goods was a Kentucky commit before flipping to Florida. Tim Smith is currently committed to Alabama but Florida has been recruiting him heavily for a long time. If Florida can flip Smith, they might have the best defensive tackle class in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

Defensive Ends: Antwaun Powell

Florida signed two blue chip defensive ends in the 2019 recruiting class with Khris Bogle and Lloyd Summerall. In the 2020 recruiting class, Florida has another blue chip defensive end. Four-star weak-side defensive end Antwaun Powell committed to Florida last June, Powell picked Florida over Michigan, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. Powell’s commitment to Florida is very strong and plans to enroll early at Florida. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Powell is a four-star recruit. He also the 129th ranked recruit and the eighth ranked weak-side defensive end in the country.

Linebackers: Derek Wingo

Linebacker coach Christian Robinson continues to do a great job recruiting elite talent. The Gators flipped four-star outside linebacker Derek Wingo last summer. Wingo was a Penn State commit before surprising everybody with his commitment to Florida. Wingo took a few secret visits to Florida before making his commitment public. The St. Thomas Aquinas linebacker has been very solid to Florida and is expected to sign in December. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Wingo is the 83rd ranked recruit and the seventh ranked outside linebacker in the country.

Cornerbacks: Jahari Rogers, Avery Helm, and Fenley Graham

The Florida Gators 2019 cornerback class is already in good shape with three commits. Jahari Rogers is one of the best athletes in the country and committed to the Gators last July. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Rogers is the 118th ranked recruit and eighth ranked cornerback in the country. Another Texas cornerback commit to Florida is Avery Helm. The four-star recruit is 6’2” and 170 pounds. Helm hasn’t visited any other schools since committing and is expected to sign early. Fenley Graham has been a nice surprise for the Florida Gators 2020 recruiting class. When Graham committed to Florida, most people just thought of him as the kick and punt returner. In his senior season at Lakeland, Graham has been terrific on special teams and defense.

Safety: Rashad Torrence II, Tre’Vez Johnson and Marc Britt

Safety has been a position Florida has had a hard time of landing top recruits. Rashad Torrence II has been committed to Florida for about ten months and has stayed solid. Torrence will take his official visit to Florida for the last game of the season versus FSU. Tre’Vez Johnson was an interesting commitment when he made his announcement. Johnson isn’t the highest ranked recruit but the Florida coaching staff still think very highly of him. Johnson has a lot of upside and has also been clocked running a 4.4 40 yard dash. Marc Britt recently committed to Florida as he picked the Gators over Penn State. The only other safety Florida is really pushing for currently is Oregon commit Avantae Williams.

Athlete: Damarcus Beckwith

Damarcus Beckwith is a big athlete that has been on Florida’s radar for some time. Beckwith named Florida is leader after taking an unofficial visit for the Auburn game. The Alabama native has offers from some of the top SEC programs. Beckwith mostly plays quarterback in high school but Florida will likely be recruiting him to play tight end. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Beckwith is the 380th ranked recruit and the 19th ranked athlete in the country.

Punter: Jeremy Crawshaw

With Tommy Townsend’s graduation after the season, Florida needed to look for a punter to replace him. There were no more Townsends available so, Florida has searched far and wide for their future punter. The Gators were able to land a punter from Down Under. Jeremy Crawshaw committed to the Florida Gators on September 23rd which was a few days after his official visit to Florida. Crawshaw is expected to sign and enroll early at the University of Florida.
