USC Gets Jay Tufele

Its turning out to be another big recruiting class for the USC Trojans. For the second year in a row, the school is making a major splash on National Signing Day.  Stay tuned to Last Word on College Football, for the latest recruiting news.

USC got more help on defense with the signing of Jay Tufele from Bingham High School in Utah. Tufele is a 6-3 297 pound defensive tackle, ranked #2 in the country at the position by 247Sports.

USC Gets Jay Tufele

Tufele missed most of his senior season with a foot injury, but as a junior he had 57 tackles and 10.5 sacks in leading Bingham to the state 5A semi-finals.

The Trojans beat out Ohio State, Michigan, BYU, and Utah to get Tufele. He took an official visit to all five of the schools. Because USC is thin on the depth chart on the defensive line, Tufele will have a chance to compete early for playing time.

Its another major win for the program, in what is becoming a pattern with USC locking up recruiting signatures on the final day. Clay Helton and his staff will now need to turn all of this raw talent into productive football players on the field.
