UCLA Football Spring Camp

UCLA lands DB Elijah Gates

The UCLA Bruins landed elite defensive back Elijah Gates on signing day. Pitts is a 5-11, 170 pound corner back from Buena Park High School in Buena Park, CA. He is ranked as a top 10 defensive back recruit in the west by Scout.com and Rivals.com. He had been considered a heavy lean to Oregon but verbally committed to UCLA early last week after an in-home visit from Bruins head coach Jim Mora and defensive line coach Demetrice Martin.

UCLA lands DB Elijah Gates

Gates played both sides of the ball at Buena Park, as a receiver on offense as well as a kick and punt returner. He had nearly 1,000 all-purpose yards his senior year. Because UCLA lost three-fourths of its starting defensive backfield, it is believed that if Gates has a chance for early playing time, it will be exclusively on the defensive side of the ball.
