ATP Chengdu Day 4 Predictions
Nikoloz Basilashvili vs Mackenzie McDonald
Head-to-head – Basilashvili 0-3 McDonald
Nikoloz Basilashvili hasn’t had a good season in 2025 with a win-loss loss of 5-7. The Georgian is certainly a better player than that, but maybe his best is behind him. He faces Mackenzie McDonald, who has beaten him on all three occasions, but they last faced each other three years ago. Both players came through qualifiers, but McDonald took out a much trickier opponent, and the American looks slightly more solid from the baseline right now.
Prediction: McDonald in 3
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard vs Alexander Shevchenko
Head-to-head – First Meeting
The tennis fraternity is really excited about Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and rightly so. The Frenchman is an aggressive server and has the baseline game to back it up. This week is a real opportunity for him to maybe push for a deep run. He battled hard in his first-round match here, and while Alexander Shevchenko, too, is rising through the rankings, expect the Frenchman to utilize the court conditions better.
Prediction: Perricard in 2
Taro Daniel vs Tallon Griekspoor
Head-to-head – Daniel 0-2 Griekspoor
Taro Daniel did extremely well to notch up his first main draw win of the year and the Japanese would hope this is the turning point in an otherwise very disappointing 2025. He faces Tallon Griekspoor who has had a pretty good year winning a title in Mallorca. The top ranked Dutchman however last won a match back in July so it will be interesting to see if he manages to turn things around. Expect a tight battle with the Dutchman to nab the victory by the slightest of margins.
Prediction: Griekspoor in 3
Lorenzo Musetti vs Dino Prizmic
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Lorenzo Musetti plays his first tournament after the US Open and the Italian will be raring to go this week. His first assignment is against Dino Prizmic who enters the main draw under the next generation quota. The 20-year-old Croatian made good use of a main draw appearance by putting up a solid performance in the first round. Expect Prizmic to have flashes of brilliance but Musetti should be too strong here.
Prediction: Musetti in 2
