The quarterfinals are set at the WTA Korea Open Tennis Championships in Seoul, and it’s a strong lineup. All three top seeds are through and will likely have a good chance of progressing further. However, Iga Swiatek remains the clear favorite and is featured in this article. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance to the semifinals?
WTA Seoul Quarterfinal Predictions
Clara Tauson vs Maya Joint
Head-to-Head: first meeting
#3 seed Clara Tauson had a tough opener against Eva Lys and started the match brilliantly. Her level dropped in the second set, but she made sure to stay solid in the tiebreak and avoid a third set. Maya Joint played one of her best matches to outclass Sofia Kenin in the second round. She was focused from start to finish and will need to maintain that focus against Tauson. I expect a grindfest between these two, given the slow conditions, and it should work in Tauson’s favour.
Prediction: Tauson in 3
Katerina Siniakova vs Suzan Lamens
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Suzan Lamens is into her first quarterfinals on hard courts this season as she defeated #5 seed Diana Shnaider in straight sets. Lamens is playing some great tennis and will like her chances against Katerina Siniakova, who also got a big win against Daria Kasatkina. Siniakova is yet to lose a set and will look to pounce on Lamens’ weak serve. However, Lamens’ defense can frustrate Siniakova into overhitting, and she must use her variety to close the points.
Prediction: Siniakova in 3
Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Ella Seidel
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Ekaterina Alexandrova was far from her best against Lois Boisson but found a way to win and reach the quarterfinal here for the first time since winning the title in 2022. She hit 14 double faults in the match and will need to improve going forward. Ella Seidel came back from 2-5 in the third set to defeat Beatriz Haddad Maia in a thriller. This match must have taken a lot out of the 20-year-old, and I expect Alexandrova to take advantage.
Prediction: Alexandrova in 2
Iga Swiatek vs Barbora Krejcikova
Head-to-Head: Swiatek 3-2 Krejcikova
Iga Swiatek won her second-round match in straight sets against Sorana Cirstea, but it was a more complicated match than the scoreline suggests. She had an off serving day and made more unforced errors than usual. However, she was dialed in on return, which made the difference. These slow courts are tailor-made for the World No.2, and I expect her to improve her level against a tougher opponent.
Prediction: Swiatek in 3
