ATP Cincinnati Day 6 Predictions
Francisco Comesana vs Reilly Opelka
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Reilly Opelka will no doubt leverage his serve heavily, which is tailor-made for Cincinnati’s speedy conditions, while Francisco Comesana will rely more on a steady baseline approach. Expect Opelka to lean on his serve and pace to dominate early exchanges. Still, if Comesana can extend rallies and neutralize the serve, this could stay competitive but Opelka looks in good nick after the win over Alex de Minaur in the Round of 64.
Prediction: Opelka in 2
Jakub Mensik vs Luca Nardi
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Jakub Mensik has looked sharp in Cincinnati so far, striking the ball cleanly and controlling rallies with confidence. Luca Nardi, on the other hand, has already played four matches this week coming through qualifying, which could start to take a physical toll. If Mensik maintains his current level, he should be able to take advantage of fresher legs and seal the win without too much trouble on the back of his big serve and aggressive baseline game.
Prediction: Mensik in 2
Alexei Popyrin vs Andrey Rublev
Head-to-head – Popyrin 2-1 Rublev
Alexei Popyrin claimed their most recent clash at the 2024 Montreal Masters, winning in straight sets to capture his maiden Masters 1000 title. Both men arrive in Cincinnati in good form, each reaching the quarterfinals in Toronto last week, and their games are well-suited to the fast conditions here. Andrey Rublev’s explosive forehand and baseline intensity make him a constant threat, while Popyrin’s serve and head-to-head advantage give him confidence. This one could go either way, but the narrow edge goes to the Australian based on past results between them.
Prediction: Popyrin in 3
Carlos Alcaraz vs Hamad Medjedovic
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Carlos Alcaraz looked a little off in his opener this week in the second set, taking some time to find his timing and range, but once settled, he closed the match out with authority in the third set. Hamad Medjedovic has impressed this week with his aggressive, power-driven game, dictating play against lower-ranked opponents. However, against Alcaraz, that style will face a far tougher test–the Spaniard’s court coverage, anticipation, and defensive skills are likely to absorb and neutralize much of Medjedovic’s firepower. If Alcaraz finds his rhythm earlier this time, expect him to control proceedings and dominate for an easy win.
Prediction: Alcaraz in 2
