As the tennis world enters the back end of the 2025 Wimbledon championships, Carlos Alcaraz enters yet another record book with yet another dominating win on tour. Alcaraz comfortably beat Cameron Norrie 6-2 6-3 6-3 in hardly a little more than 90 minutes to cement a spot in the semifinals and continue his good run not only at Wimbledon but also on the tour this year.
Alcaraz equals Del Potro with 23 Wins
The Spaniard now has a 19 match winning streak at the Wimbledon Championships having not lost a single match since the beginning of the 2023 edition. However, the new streak he has created this year has got the whole tennis community talking. Since his loss to Holger Rune at the Monte Carlo Masters, Alcaraz has not been defeated on tour with his winning streak touching 23 wins. This is the joint 6th longest winning streak of the 21st century as he joins Juan Martin Del Potro who had a similar winning streak in 2008.
The five winning streaks in line ahead of Alcaraz are:
43- Novak Djokovic (2010-11)
41- Roger Federer (2006-07)
32- Rafael Nadal (2008)
28- Andy Murray (2016-17)
26- Jannik Sinner (2024-25)
How many wins does Alcaraz need to cross Djokovic
The calculations are done and for the Spaniard to cross the all-time record of Djokovic’s 43 wins he has to win a few big upcoming events. If Alcaraz ends up winning the Wimbledon he will make it to 25 wins on the bounce. He will then have to also win the Toronto Masters, Cincinnati Masters and the US Open to add another 19 wins to his name and make it a total of 44 wins on the bounce. It shows the level of inevitably any of the five names ahead of Alcaraz especially Djokovic had shown in their peak form.
Incredibly Alcaraz has the same number of title wins and match losses so far this year. He has won 5 titles and has lost the same number of matches in 2025. He has shown a sign of peak form in the last couple of months and if he continues this way he might break a few streaks ahead of him while aiming for the pinnacle. The Spaniard will next play against American Taylor Fritz who with his big serve might test Alcaraz’s defense.
Also in Alcaraz path to a Wimbledon title, potentially Djokovic or Sinner, two names on this list who could stop his streak.
