ATP Rome Semifinal Predictions Including Carlos Alcaraz vs Lorenzo Musetti

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are still on track to meet in the ATP Italian Open final in Rome, which is the first event for the World No. 1 after his three-month suspension. However, there’s one more hurdle each of them would need to clear. Tommy Paul has made the semifinals in Rome in back-to-back seasons, while Lorenzo Musetti is on an incredible clay run this year. Who do you think will reach the final?

ATP Rome Semifinal Predictions

Jannik Sinner vs Tommy Paul

Head-to-head: Sinner 3-1

Jannik Sinner is back and playing almost like he never left. The Italian is on a huge win streak since losing to Carlos Alcaraz in Beijing and it’s getting pretty difficult to find other players who could potentially take him down. Tommy Paul has the ability to keep it close against the top guys and even their most recent US Open clash was closer than most remember, at least for two sets. It will be a grind but when the dust settles, Sinner has too much quality shot-for-shot for almost anybody on tour right now. Paul will need to push very hard to find something here, so we might get to see if the Italian is still vulnerable physically or not.
Prediction: Sinner in 2

Carlos Alcaraz vs Lorenzo Musetti

Head-to-head: Alcaraz 5-1

Just a month ago they met in the Monte Carlo final, but we didn’t really get to see how this match would look like if both players were firing on all cylinders. Lorenzo Musetti took the opening set, only for all the battles he had endured over the week to come back to hurt him. Typically in this matchup it’s Carlos Alcaraz who has the upper hand with his easier power on the forehand and a less complicated gameplan. But they’re both magicians and with the slow conditions plus home crowd support, Musetti has a chance to turn this into an up-and-down creativity contest, which would even things up. A slight nod has to go to Alcaraz, but we’re hoping for a brilliant match here.
Prediction: Alcaraz in 3

Damian is a connoisseur of the lower tiers of men's tennis and would probably watch the World No. 700 play a ferret if he could see it from the stands. Always pleased by a beautiful one-handed backhand or classic volleying technique.
