ATP Adelaide Best Bets Including Shapovalov vs Giron

ATP 250 Adelaide 1/8-Finals

Giron – Shapovalov: 08.01.2025 01:30 CEST
H2H: 1-0

Marcos Giron has won four of his last five matches. His last competitive match before Adelaide was in October last year in Paris. Here in Adelaide, Giron won his opening match against Vukic in three tight sets. Being an American, Giron loves playing on fast courts like this. He hopes for a solid result this week to stay in the top 50. Around this time last year, Giron played in Auckland, where he lost in the opening round against Altmaier in straight sets.

Denis Shapovalov has won three of his last five matches. So far this season, Denis has played only one tournament last week in Hong Kong. He failed in the opening round against Nishikori, losing in straight sets. The Canadian made too many unforced errors and was inconsistent throughout the match. Here in Adelaide, Shapovalov won his opening match against Zhang in straight sets, as we had predicted.  Around this time last year, Denis played in Auckland, where he lost in the tournament’s opening round against Ofner in straight sets. Shortly after that, Denis also lost in the opening round of the Australian Open against Mensik in straight sets. Shapovalov loves to play on fast courts like this one.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Shapovalov is the slight favorite in this match. We believe that he is currently in better form than Giron. Denis thrives under these conditions, and he is finally injury-free. We expect him to soon get back into the top 50 and win tomorrow easily.

That being said, Shapovalov winning is a value bet.

Kecmanovic – O’Connell: 08.01.2025 02:30 CEST
H2H: 1-1

Miomir Kecmanovic has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Hong Kong, Kecmanovic lost in the second round against Muller in three tight sets. Miomir had two match points in the deciding tiebreak and even had a chance to close out the match in the second set when he was 6-5 up and served for the match. Here in Adelaide, Miomir won his opening match against Bublik in straight sets, as we had predicted. Last year in Adelaide, Kecmanovic lost against Draper in the 1/8-Finals in three tight sets. This will also be his third appearance in the tournament, and he has never made it past the second round.

Christopher O’Connell has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Brisbane, Christopher lost in the opening round against Michelsen in three tight sets. Christopher even had a match point in the deciding tiebreak but fumbled under pressure. Here in Adelaide, Christopher won the opening round against Rinderknech in straight sets, as we had predicted. Last year in Adelaide, O’Connell reached the quarterfinals, losing against Korda in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Kecmanovic is the slight favorite in this match. He is a better hard-court player overall than O’Connell, and we expect him to win tomorrow. Christopher is a solid player, but we still believe he has no weapons for Miomir’s game.

That being said, Kecmanovic winning is a value bet.
