Day 4 of the United Cup will feature some very tasty matchups, including a battle between Argentina and Great Britain. While the matchup won’t feature any top 20 players on either circuit, the matchups should still provide plenty of quality, with the mixed doubles matchup being particularly intriguing and difficult to predict given that the two pairs combine for a total of two matches played together and zero wins.
United Cup Day 4 Predictions
Katie Boulter/Charles Broom vs Nadia Podoroska/Tomas Martin Etcheverry
Head-to-head: first meeting
This is a very difficult matchup to predict. Podoroska and Etcheverry are playing doubles together for only the third time (the previous two being the last two United Cup editions) and are still winless as a pair, while Boulter and Broom are making their debut as a pair. That little bit of extra experience playing together might just swing things in favor of the Argentinian pair.
Prediction: Podoroska/Etcheverry in 3
Katie Boulter vs Nadia Podoroska
Head-to-head: first meeting
Boulter had easily the best season of her career in 2024, reached the top 25 in the WTA rankings, and will be looking to further build on that in 2025. Given the level she has reached and the surface of the United Cup, Podoroska, who’s ranked #100 in the world, shouldn’t be able to pose much of a threat and this should be a point for Great Britain.
Prediction: Boulter in 2
Billy Harris vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry
Head-to-head: Harris 1-0 Etcheverry
Harris did win when the pair faced off last year at Queen’s, but grass is by far his most favorable surface in this matchup. Etcheverry is generally the far higher level player and on a hard court he should have a clear edge and score a win for Great Britain. The Argentine has been steadily rising up the rankings and looks primed for another strong season in 2025.
Prediction: Etcheverry in 2
