ATP Umag Best Bets Including Fognini vs Tseng

Fabio Fognini in action. The Italian won his seventh Challenger title last week.

ATP 250 Umag 1/8-Finals

Musetti – Trungelliti: 24.07.2024 18:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Lorenzo Musetti has won four of his last five matches. The last match he played was at Wimbledon, where he lost in the semifinals against Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Musetti took some time off to get rested for the second part of the season. His last clay court match was at the French Open where he lost against Djokovic once again. So far this season, Musetti has not have any remarkable results on clay. Last time he played in Umag was in 2022, where he lost in the 1/8-Finals against Cecchinato in straight sets.

Marco Trungelliti has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Hamburg, Marco reached the 1/8-Finals as a qualifier where he lost against Rune in straight sets. Here in Umag, Trungelitti fought through the qualifying tournament once again. Marco won both of his qualifying matches in straight sets. After that, in the first round of the main-draw, Trungelitti won against Andreozzi in three tight sets. Trungelliti was set down, but kept his composure and turned the match around.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Musetti is the big favorite in this matchup. Trungelitti has already won three matches here in Umag, so he will definitely be confident coming into this meeting. On the other hand, Musetti had a longer break after he lost an exhausting match against Djokovic. He will probably still be emotionally exhausted.

That being said, Trungelliti covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Fognini – Tseng: 24.07.2024 19:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Fabio Fognini has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Gstaad, Fabio had a decent tournament, reaching the quarterfinals where he lost against Tsitsipas in straight sets as we predicted. Here in Umag, Fabio won his first round match against van Assche in straight sets as we predicted. Recently, Fognini had some solid results which earned him a return to the top 100 in the rankings. So far in his career, Fognini has reached the final twice here in Umag, winning the title in 2016, and finishing as a runner-up in 2013.

Chun Hsin Tseng has lost four of his last five matches. Last week in Hamburg, Tseng won in the qualifying tournament against Krajinovic. Here in Umag, Chun won his first qualifying match against Zmak in straight sets. However, Tseng lost in the final qualifying round against Andreozzi. Luckily for him, with some players withdrawing from the tournament, Tseng got into the main-draw as a lucky loser.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Fognini is the favorite in this matchup. Fabio showed great tennis in his first round performance. We believe that he will have strength for another match, and he won easily against Tseng in straight sets.

That being said, Fognini winning in straight sets is a value bet.
