ATP Wimbledon final
Alcaraz – Djokovic: 14.07.2024 15:00 CEST
H2H: 3-3
Carlos Alcaraz has won six straight matches. Here at Wimbledon, Alcaraz won his first round match against Lajal in tight straight sets as we predicted. Alcaraz could not find his rhythm, and was just struggling with his tennis. After that, Carlos defeated Vukic in the second round in straight sets as well. Alcaraz lost his serve twice in the first set, but still turned the set around and won through the tiebreak. In the second and third sets, Carlos was a way better player on the court, winning both sets 6-2. After that, in the third round, Carlos had it tough against Tiafoe as we predicted. After around 2:30 hours on the court, Alcaraz was 1-2 down. Both players have played great tennis, but Alcaraz was the better player under pressure and won the fourth set through the tiebreak. Tiafoe was tired in the fifth set, and Alcaraz was just pushing him to the limit. In the 1/8-Finals, Alcaraz defeated Humbert in four sets. Besides losing the third set 1-6, Carlos has shown why he is the biggest favorite and defending champion here in London. In the quarterfinals, Alcaraz lost the first set against Paul. However, once he stepped up his game, Alcaraz won three straight sets, and won the match comfortably in the end. His semifinal match against Medvedev did not start well, but Carlos once again stepped up his level in the second set and won the match in four sets as we predicted. Last year at Wimbledon, Carlos played his best tennis. En route to the title, Alcaraz won against Berrettini, Rune, Medvedev, Djokovic and some other great players.
Novak Djokovic has won six straight matches. Less than a month after knee surgery, Novak won his first round match at Wimbledon, winning against Kopriva in straight sets. Vit stood no chance, and Novak has shown that he is here to win. After that, Novak had it tough against Fearnley in the second round of the tournament. Djokovic won in four tight sets. In the third round, Novak lost the first set against Popyrin. However, once he stepped up his game, Novak was unstoppable. His on-court movement looks great again. Popyrin played a very solid match, but it just was not enough for Novak. Djokovic defeated Rune in the 1/8-Finals in straight easy sets. Once again, Novak dominated from the very start. He offered only two breakpoints, and saved both of them. Alex de Minaur withdrew from the tournament right before his quarterfinal match against Novak due to a hip injury. That being said, Novak made it to the semifinal, without having to play his quarterfinal match. Novak was dominant in his semifinal match, winning against Musetti in straight sets. So far this season, Nole is yet to win against the top 10 players. Last year at Wimbledon, Djokovic lost in the final against Carlos Alcaraz in five tough sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. As we already mentioned before, Novak is yet to win against the top 10 players this season. This season was a tough season for him considering the injuries and his form. Alcaraz is one of the best players on tour right now, and we believe that he will defend the title here at Wimbledon.
That being said, Alcaraz winning is a value bet.
