ATP French Open qualification final
Virtanen – Zeppieri: 23.05.2024 12:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1
Otto Virtanen is a young talent from Finland. He spent most of his time on the fast indoor courts at the challenger tour level. He is a great server, so this slower surface does not fit his game. In the first qualification round, Virtanen got lucky, with the draw defeating young Australian Sweeny in straight sets easily. Today, Virtanen upset Dominic Thiem in straight sets. They played under a closed roof, which helped Virtanen, considering his playing style. Worth mentioning that Dominic Thiem had only 14 winners with 23 unforced errors and just gave away a lot of points to Virtanen.
Giulio Zeppieri has won three of his last five matches. The young Italian is not in his best form, but he performed well in the first qualification round. Zeppieri defeated Travaglia in straight sets convincingly. He served almost perfectly, getting 11 aces and offering only two breakpoints which he saved. Today, Zeppieri won against Andreev as we predicted. Before the French Open, Zeppieri played a lot of matches on the clay courts on the challenger tour to prepare for the French Open. Last year at the French Open, Zeppieri fought throughout the qualification tournament and even won his first round match against Bublik.
Best Bet to Make
The weather should be fine tomorrow in Paris. We believe that they will be able to play without the roof, which will help Zeppieri´s game. Zeppieri is a much better clay court player than Virtanen, and we believe that he will win easily tomorrow.
That being said, Zeppieri winning in straight sets is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Giulio Zeppieri winning 2-0 @2.20
Heide – Gigante: 23.05.2024 12:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Gustavo Heide has won three of his last five matches. In his first qualification round match, Heide upset Lukas Klein in three tight sets. Today, Heide defeated By in straight sets. Heide served well, getting 10 aces and saved all three breakpoints. He also played very aggressively, hitting 36 winners with 26 unforced errors. Earlier this season, Heide won a challenger title in Asunción. He has played all of his matches on clay this season, so expect him to be well-prepared for the French Open.
Matteo Gigante has won three of his last five matches. Last week, Gigante reached the challenger final in Turin where he lost against Maestrelli in straight sets. Here in Paris, Gigante won his first qualification round against Gueymard Wayenburg in three tough sets. Today, Gigante had another tough match against Svrcina, winning yet again in three tight sets. Gigante has already spent almost five hours on the court so far. Matteo had his best result on the faster hard courts, so the surface in Paris does not really fit his game.
Best Bet to Make
Gustavo Heide played more matches and has also won more matches than Gigante this season so far. He is overall a better clay court player than Gigante. According to the bookies, this one should be a 50-50 match.
That being said, Heide winning the match is a value bet.
