WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions Including Anna Bondar vs Tatjana Maria

Plenty of players who were at the WTA 125 in San Luis Potosi last week are also featured in the main draw in Bogota. That includes the finalists of that event, Nadia Podoroska and Francesca Jones. Two-time defending champion Tatjana Maria also kicks off her campaign on Tuesday. Who do you think will advance to the next stage of the event?

WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions

Nadia Podoroska vs Laura Pigossi

Head-to-head: Pigossi 1-0

Nadia Podoroska claimed the title at San Luis Potosi last week with a very dominant win over Francesca Jones. Players who excel in altitude conditions usually end up being successful in them not only for just one event and the former Roland Garros semifinalist certainly has the ball-striking talent to overwhelm players on the courts in Bogota. Laura Pigossi beat her on the clay courts in Warsaw two years ago, but here it’s Podoroska who will be the favorite.
Prediction: Podoroska in 2

Yuliana Monroy vs Francesca Jones

Head-to-head: First meeting

Francesca Jones should be well-prepared for this run as she made the final at the WTA 125 in San Luis Potosi last week. Despite getting blown out by Nadia Podoroska, the Brit scored a few fine wins and should have a lot of rhythm in these tough altitude conditions. This is only Yuliana Monroy’s second main tour match and she wasn’t able to stay competitive with Ekaterina Gorgodze at this very event last year, going out 0-6 3-6. Jones should probably take her out comfortably too.
Prediction: Jones in 2

Anna Bondar vs Tatjana Maria

Head-to-head: Bondar 2-1

Tatjana Maria is a two-time defending champion in Bogota, but she lost to Anna Bondar in very similar conditions in San Luis Potosi last week. It was a great battle though with the Hungarian eventually prevailing 0-6 7-6 7-5. Can she pull it off again? She’s already demonstrated that she can hit through the slice-and-dice game of the veteran and isn’t scared of her serve. But there’s just something special about Maria’s game on these courts, so she remains the favorite.
Prediction: Maria in 3
