WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions Including Camila Osorio vs Marina Stakusic

Camila Osorio Citi Open

All the remaining first-round matches are scheduled for Tuesday at the WTA 250 in Bogota, including home crowd favorite (and 2021 champion) Camila Osorio and a blockbuster between Maria Timofeeva and Sara Sorribes Tormo. Who do you think will prevail?

WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions

Iryna Shymanovich vs Laura Siegemund

Head-to-head: First meeting

Laura Siegemund is now 36 years old but remains in the Top 100 and showing plenty of quality, especially in individual matches. Her game should suit these courts very well with the variety and aggressive clay skillset. She chose to play in Charleston this time last year, but Bogota could be a much nicer fit. Iryna Shymanovich has some altitude experience but not much in terms of previous appearances on the main tour and likely will be on the back foot here.
Prediction: Siegemund in 2

Lucrezia Stefanini vs Anca Todoni

Head-to-head: First meeting

Anca Todoni is making her second WTA Tour main draw appearance after receiving a wild card for Cluj-Napoca earlier this year. We’ll see if the 19-year-old Romanian can bring something more this time. She already has two qualifying matches under her belt, but didn’t need to defeat a Top 250 opponent along the way. While Lucrezia Stefanini is a considerable step up, she doesn’t seem to be out of Todoni’s range. The Romanian defeated Sara Sorribes Tormo in San Luis Potosi last week and might just pull off another big win here.
Prediction: Todoni in 3

Maria Timofeeva vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

Head-to-head: First meeting

This is quite a blockbuster in the opening round here as the third-seeded Sara Sorribes Tormo takes on a talented up-and-comer. The Spaniard suffered a shock exit to Anca Todoni in San Luis Potosi last week and it remains to be seen whether she picks up her game. Her control over the ball in altitude conditions should be stronger than most, but there will be a fair bit of space open for her to get attacked too. Timofeeva might lack a bit of punch to not get involved in the scrappy rallies that Sorribes Tormo prefers.
Prediction: Sorribes Tormo in 3

Camila Osorio vs Marina Stakusic

Head-to-head: First meeting

Camila Osorio should be one of the favorites to win this event again, having claimed the title in 2021 and made it to at least the quarterfinals on two separate occasions. She’s not afraid of directing the rallies in these tricky conditions and enjoys all the possible crowd support. Marina Stakusic only needed one match to qualify and took it via retirement over Fanny Stollar. While the Canadian carries plenty of potential, beating Osorio here would be a special result for her. It’s probably not going to happen this week.
Prediction: Osorio in 2
