Marcos Giron is not in great form. He is on a 3-game losing streak. However, he played well in February and won against some great players. Giron has played one final already this year in Dallas. Other than that, Giron also played in the semifinals at Delray Beach. He always plays his best tennis on home soil! Last year, Giron won in the first round in Houston easily. Tonight, he will face Denis Shapovalov, who is still trying to find his best form after returning from an injury. Shapovalov desperately needs wins to come back into the top 100. Clay is his least favorite surface. Shapovalov has only played a few matches over the last few years on the clay, and he did not achieve anything remarkable. He recently played some good matches at Indian Wells and also in Miami, where he won against Tsitsipas in straight sets. We are not sure how he will adapt to the surface. This clay court surface is really fast, so he might be able to get some free points on his serve. All being said, we believe that Giron is currently a better player. He may not be in his best form, but he showed us this year how capable he is. Shapovalov still needs to find his best form. As we already mentioned, he does not love to play on the clay court surface. We believe that Giron should not be an underdog in this match. That being said, Giron winning is a value bet!

Jordan Thompson is on a 3-game losing streak. He did not perform well at the masters’ tournament. Thompson was not good under pressure and that is why he could not make it past the first round at the Indian Wells and Miami as well. However, Thompson has had a decent season so far. He won against Nadal, Zverev, Ruud and some other great players. Jordan also won his first title this season in Acapulco. It was one of the best performances he ever had! He will face Wu tonight! Yibing Wu is one of the biggest Chinese talents. Wu had a great 2023 season where he made himself famous! He won his maiden ATP title in Dallas, defeating the top 20 players. It seemed like he came out of nowhere. Wu played most of the 2022 season at the challenger tour level. He won many matches and has gained needed experience for the ATP Tour level! Injury problems have kinda ruined his career thus far. He is still really young, but Wu unfortunately has serious fitness problems. He has played 2 qualification round matches in Houston already. He won both of them in straight sets. This is his first tournament since the Asian Games that were played in September 2023. We believe that Wu will find his best form eventually. However, he still needs time. Jordan Thompson is a great player, and we believe that Wu is not ready for him!
