Novak Djokovic continues to make history just about every time he decides to enter a Grand Slam singles draw. We all know he’s racing for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title to equal Margaret Court’s tally in the women’s game. To go along with the pressure of that, Novak also set the record for most Men’s singles semifinal appearances. To put the icing on the cake, he has now tied Roger Federer for his mark of three calendar seasons where he’s appeared in all four Grand Slam finals. This ties them for the most all-time in the Open Era. It is impossibly great stuff from the Serbian legend. This is just another statistic to prove his incredibly complete game and logic-defying longevity.
Who Did Djokovic Play This Year to Achieve This Milestone?
Luckily enough for Novak, his path to the four finals this year weren’t exactly the most difficult of tests. In the Australian Open, he most notably beat Andrey Rublev and Tommy Paul to reach the final. At Roland Garros, he cruised past Karen Khachanov and an injury hampered Carlos Alcaraz (still a phenomenal win) to reach the final. At Wimbledon, he took down Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, and Jannik Sinner to get to the final. And this past week at the U.S. Open, he’s taken down Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton to reach the final. Incredible stuff from Novak, but he has faced much more stiff competition in previous years.
Will He Set The Record Next Year?
With Djokovic showing no signs of slowing down, it’s fair to wonder if he’ll end up surpassing Federer’s mark of three seasons with all four Grand Slam finals appearances. If he is able to stay at #1 or #2 in the world and avoids Carlos Alcaraz before the finals, I do believe he will be able to make all four finals next season and break the record.
