Day 3 of WTA action in Warsaw features a mix of Round 1 and Round 2 matches that offer plenty of intrigue. The biggest match of the day will feature #1 seed Iga Swiatek who returns to the court after her third-round loss on the lawns of the All-England Club. Ana Bogdan vs Katerina Siniakova
Head-to-Head: Bogdan 1-0 Siniakova
After picking up a solid straight-set victory over #7 seed Nuria Parrizas Diaz, Ana Bogdan is looking to advance to her first tour-level quarterfinal of the season. She takes on Katerina Siniakova, whom she bested on the clay back in April of 2021. Siniakova is looking to bounce back from a grass court swing that saw her fail to secure a victory. She is, however, 4-2 during the summer clay swing and seems to be playing with confidence. I like the Czech native to advance in three sets.

Laura Pigossi vs Nadia Podoroska
Head-to-Head: first meeting
After receiving a lucky loser entry into the main draw, Laura Pigossi turned up her tennis and bested Varvara Gracheva in straight sets in Round 1. Nadia Podoroska also rolled through her first-round match, dropping just two total games. Though both players are currently ranked outside the top 100, they both play their best tennis on the clay. I see this one going three sets, with the slight advantage to Podoroska who has been playing very solid tennis after a ten-month absence from the tour.

Iga Swiatek vs Magdalena Frech
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Iga Swiatek takes the court for the first time since her unprecedented 37-match winning streak was ended in the third round of Wimbledon. She matches up with her Polish compatriot Magdalena Frech. Frech has had a solid year on the clay, but even her best effort won’t be enough against the World #1. Swiatek is 16-0 on the dirt this season and 46-4 overall. I do not foresee her dropping back-to-back matches with the form she has held in 2022.
