ATP Marseille Day 3 Predictions Including Richard Gasquet vs Andrey Rublev

Andrey Rublev French Open

The 2022 edition of the ATP Marseille Open is into its third day of main draw action. On the slate are a couple of Round of 32 matches and three enthralling Round of 16 matches featuring two of the top four seeds. As ever, we at LWOT preview and predict all matches for you.

ATP Marseille Day 3 Predictions

Round of 32

Benjamin Bonzi vs Kamil Majchrzak

Head to head – First Meeting

Benjamin Bonzi is not going to have it easy in his first round match. Kamil Majchrzak has very quietly carved out a 7-2 win loss in 2022 including a semi final run in Pune last week. The Pole sits just ten ranking places behind so he’s not trying to beat a player who’s pretty high up in the rankings and that should give him confidence. Expect Majchrzak to continue his strong showing in 2022.
Prediction: Majchrzak in 2

Tallon Griekspoor vs Lucas Pouille

Head to head – First Meeting

Lucas Pouille looks like the shadow of the player he once was. The Frenchman can play an extremely elegant attacking game, adept at taking the ball extremely early off of both wings. This year so far Pouille is off his peak and given his recent withdrawal in a challenger event last week, his fitness remains an issue. Tallon Griekspoor has been making headlines for all the right reasons so far due to his unreal win streak in Challenger events. The Dutchman hasn’t quite cracked the main tour events just yet but he should be able to get past Pouille.
Prediction: Griekspoor in 3

Round of 16

Ilya Ivashka vs Stefano Travaglia

Head to head – Ivashka 1-0 Travaglia

Both players played great matches in their respective first round encounters with Ilya Ivashka dominating a tricky opponent. Stefano Travaglia came through a third set tiebreaker with flying colours but he now takes on a player who’s much more aggressive and who has already beaten him once in their sole meeting. Expect Ivashka to put up another strong performance.
Prediction: Ivashka in 2

Aslan Karatsev vs Holger Rune

Head to head – First Meeting

This is going to be a great match. Holger Rune is young and doesn’t look like he minds the pressure of being on the main tour. The 18 year old plays his game with extreme freedom and it’s refreshing to see his aggressive ball striking. Unfortunately for him, he now faces Aslan Karatsev who knows a thing or two about aggressive ball striking from the baseline. The Russian is yet to hit form this year but I don’t see him losing this match.
Prediction: Karatsev in 2

Richard Gasquet vs Andrey Rublev

Head to head – First Meeting

Richard Gasquet showed us all in his first round match that the fire still burns in him especially when he plays in France. His court craft is right up there with the very best but he does look a tad slower on court than he was in his prime. Andrey Rublev on the other hand is going to love the indoor courts of Marseille and with his aggressive game style, he’s going to create plenty of problems for the Frenchman. Expect Rublev to overpower Gasquet and serve better.
Prediction: Rublev in 2
