The 2021 edition of the ATP Halle Open is underway as action continues on Day 2. Eleven high octane Round of 32 clashes are scheduled and we predict all of them for you, including Daniil Medvedev vs Jan-Lennard Struff and Alexander Zverev vs Dominik Koepfer.
ATP Halle Open Day 2 Predictions
Nikoloz Basilashvili vs Gilles Simon
Head to head – Simon 3-1 Basilashvili
Nikoloz Basilashvili has played two tough qualifying rounds as the Georgian looks to turn around his season after disappointing results in recent tournaments. Gilles Simon is not the player he once was as the Frenchman’s endurance has withered. He last won a match in Sardinia in April and it’ll be another tough outing against a heavy ball striker in the form of Basilashvili. Expect the Georgian to get the win.
Prediction: Basilashvili in 2
Gael Monfils vs Lloyd Harris
Head to head – Harris 1-0 Monfils
Gael Monfils has struggled immensely this year and he has a tough assignment in the form of Lloyd Harris in his opening match. The South African lost early in Stuttgart but has the ability to play well on grass. Harris should dictate play from the baseline well and as soon as he starts reading the Monfils’ serve it could be game set and match for the young South African.
Prediction: Harris in 2
Karen Khachanov vs Andrey Rublev
Head to head – Khachanov 2-0 Rublev
It was a disappointing end for Andrey Rublev’s clay court season but the Russian is a good enough player this year to move on and bounce back. Karen Khachanov has beaten his countryman on both occasions he’s played Rublev, including one in Halle four years ago. Rublev has improved massively since then which spells trouble for Khachanov. Expect Khachanov to make strong start to the match but Rublev should eventually get his forehand going and seize control of the match.
Prediction: Rublev in 3
