The 10th anniversary edition of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo got underway in Los Cabos on Monday, and the ATP Los Cabos draw has already produced a lively mix of established names, rising talent, and the kind of summer hard-court volatility that makes ATP 250 events so enjoyable. Jiri Lehecka is the top seed, with Luciano Darderi seeded second, Francisco Cerundolo at No. 3, and Karen Khachanov at No. 4 in a field that is relatively open, as players began their US Open preparations in earnest.
One of the more interesting additions to the draw is 17-year-old French wild card Moise Kouame, who gives the tournament an ATP next gen storyline alongside the more established tour regulars. Kouame had his breakout moment at this year’s French Open.
The tournament has also slotted defending champion Denis Shapovalov in as the No. 8 seed and Martin Landaluce as the No. 7 seed, Cameron Norrie is also here, three players who can do plenty of damage to the opposition when at their best.
Khachanov already knows his round of 16 opponent as Bernard Tomic, entering as a lucky loser, came through against a local Mexican qualifier. That matchup alone gives the event an immediate ATP 250 feel: a former top-level name in Tomic, a proven seed in Khachanov, and the possibility of a tricky second-round battle before the tournament really settles in. Tomic last played in Mexico at Acapulco in 2016.

Los Cabos continues to offer one of the more distinctive settings on the ATP calendar, and the tournament’s appeal is not just the quality of tennis but the atmosphere around it. The event has spent a decade building itself into a signature stop in Latin America, with the sea-air backdrop, summer heat, and the relaxed but polished resort environment giving it a character few other ATP 250s can match.
For tennis fans, that matters. Los Cabos has a habit of rewarding players who bring energy early in the week, and the conditions can produce fast-moving, momentum-heavy matches that suit aggressive baseliners and confident servers. The majority of matches are played at night under lights, meaning it’s primetime or early morning viewing depending on your time zone.
Los Cabos has long been more than just an ATP 250 stop, and the 10th anniversary edition again wraps the tennis in a broader event package, with the tournament promoting a Silent Party by Disney Cruise Line, Kids Nite, live music, interactive sponsor activations, gourmet food options and upgraded hospitality areas around the Cabo Sports Complex.
With Lehecka, Darderi, Cerúndolo, Khachanov, and Shapovalov all in the mix, the 10th edition already looks like it could deliver the kind of upset laden draw that makes this tournament one that is worth tuning in for.
