Day 3 in Estoril promises another entertaining slate of clay-court tennis as players continue their push for a place in the latter stages of the tournament. The conditions have rewarded those willing to construct points patiently while taking advantage of short balls, making for plenty of tactical battles. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule. But who will advance?
ATP Estoril Day 3 Predictions
Hugo Gaston vs Titouan Droguet
Head-to-Head: Gaston 2-0 Droguet
An all-French clash, with two players who have taken different paths to this stage of the season. Gaston remains one of the most entertaining players on clay, relying on his superb touch, variety, and court craft rather than outright power. He has shown flashes of his best tennis this year, particularly on clay where his ability to mix spins and angles can frustrate even the biggest hitters.
Droguet has continued to develop steadily on the Challenger Tour and has earned opportunities at ATP level with some consistent results. He possesses a more conventional baseline game and is capable of hitting through the court when given time, but facing Gaston’s unpredictable style is never straightforward. The left-hander should be able to draw enough errors by constantly changing the rhythm of the rallies.

Nuno Borges vs Roman Andres Burruchaga
Head-to-Head: First meeting
Borges arrives with plenty of confidence after another consistent stretch on clay and will once again have the home crowd firmly behind him. The Portuguese No. 1 has continued to establish himself as a reliable ATP player, using his athleticism, heavy forehand, and all-court game to wear opponents down. His comfort on clay has been evident throughout the season.
Burruchaga has also enjoyed a productive year, building momentum with several strong performances on the Challenger circuit before carrying that form into ATP events. The Argentine is comfortable in long rallies and rarely gives away cheap points, but Borges has generally looked more assured against top-level opposition. Playing at home should provide another boost in what is likely to be a competitive encounter.

Alejandro Tabilo vs Tiago Torres
Head-to-Head: First meeting
Tabilo continues to search for the consistency that made him one of the breakout performers on tour, but clay remains one of the surfaces where he is most dangerous. His heavy left-handed forehand and willingness to step inside the baseline make him difficult to contain when he settles into a rhythm. The Chilean also has the experience of handling these occasions.
Torres has made the most of his wild card opportunity and will enjoy tremendous support from the Portuguese fans. The youngster has shown encouraging signs on clay, but this represents one of the toughest tests of his career. Tabilo’s experience, heavier groundstrokes, and ability to control rallies should allow him to keep the match on his terms.

Alexander Blockx vs Kyrian Jacquet
Head-to-Head: First meeting
Jacquet has steadily rebuilt his ranking with consistent Challenger results, using his aggressive baseline game to good effect on clay. Entering the main draw as a lucky loser means he can play with freedom and confidence.
Blockx, meanwhile, continues to justify the growing excitement surrounding his potential. The Belgian teenager has looked increasingly comfortable at higher levels this season, combining clean ball-striking with impressive composure in pressure moments. His movement on clay has also improved, allowing him to stay patient before pulling the trigger.
Jacquet has enough experience to make this a real battle, but Blockx has shown throughout the season that he is ready to compete consistently against quality opposition. His ability to balance aggression with consistency should see him come through.
