Iva Jovic BNP Paribas Open-Day 6

WTA Bad Homburg Day 2 Predictions Including Iva Jovic vs Xinyu Wang

This week’s WTA tournament in Bad Homburg doesn’t exactly feature a stacked field, as expected from a tournament played the week right before Wimbledon, but it is particularly intriguing this year due to the participation of the legendary Venus Williams, looking to gain some momentum ahead of Wimbledon. Even aside from Williams, though, there should be plenty of exciting grass court tennis on display all week in Germany.

WTA Bad Homburg Day 2 Predictions

Clara Tauson vs Diana Shnaider

Head-to-head: Shnaider 1-0 Tauson

Shnaider is fresh off a fantastic run to the semifinals at Roland Garros, even beating World #1 Aryna Sabalenka on the way, while Tauson has been struggling massively in recent months, coming into this match on the back of seven consecutive defeats. Usually, this would be quite a close matchup on grass, but given each player’s respective form at the moment, it is hard not to favor Shnaider here.
Prediction: Shnaider in 3

Alexandra Eala vs Elise Mertens

Head-to-head: Mertens 2-0 Eala

Mertens might lead the head-to-head, but Eala has been constantly improving and she has been playing great tennis on grass in recent week, with a title run in Birmingham and a semifinal run in Berlin losing to the eventual champion in Linda Noskova. She will be looking to maintain that strong momentum this week ahead of Wimbledon and she should be able to get her first ever win in this matchup here.

Prediction: Eala in 2

Iva Jovic vs Xinyu Wang

Head-to-head: first meeting

Jovic has been rising fast up the rankings and she started the grass court season with a strong semifinal showing at Queen’s, even if she lost in very clear fashion to Emma Raducanu there. She will certainly be confident in a good Wimbledon campaign and will be looking to gain some important confidence and momentum ahead of it here. Wang is very unlikely to be able to stop her.
Prediction: Jovic in 2
