Venus Williams has been given a WTA Miami wildcard.

WTA Bad Homburg Day 2 Predictions Including Venus Williams vs Irina-Camelia Begu

This week’s WTA tournament in Bad Homburg doesn’t exactly feature a stacked field, as expected from a tournament played the week right before Wimbledon, but it is particularly intriguing this year due to the participation of the legendary Venus Williams, looking to gain some momentum ahead of Wimbledon. Even aside from Williams, though, there should be plenty of exciting grass court tennis on display all week in Germany.

WTA Bad Homburg Day 2 Predictions

Sinja Kraus vs Anna Kalinskaya

Head-to-head: first meeting

Kalinskaya had quite an unfortunate grass season debut last week in Berlin against Elina Svitolina and she will be looking to gain some momentum ahead of Wimbledon this week in Bad Homburg. On paper, she got quite a kind first round draw against a much lower ranked opponent, even if Kraus played some very nice tennis in qualifying to get to this main draw.
Prediction: Kalinskaya in 2

Solana Sierra vs Qinwen Zheng

Head-to-head: first meeting

Although Sierra is far higher ranked at the moment and has been playing well lately, on grass this should be a very even matchup all things considered. That said, Zheng is very far from the level that took her as high as #4 in the world and has been struggling massively so far in 2026. On current form, Sierra should be able to find a way to win here.
Prediction: Sierra in 3

Venus Williams vs Irina-Camelia Begu

Head-to-head: Williams 1-0 Begu

Williams is a former five-time Wimbledon champion, but she is also 46 years old, with a 1-10 record since Washington last year. Grass has always been a happy hunting ground for the older Williams sister and Begu is far from the most imposing opponent she should face here, but it would still be considered an upset if Williams were to get the win here.
Prediction: Begu in 3
