The final is set at the ATP Geneva Open, featuring the No. 4 seed Learner Tien against Mariano Navone. This is a fascinating matchup between a rising young star playing his first-ever clay-court final and a gritty clay-court specialist aiming for his second ATP title. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate, but which player will lift the trophy?
ATP Geneva Final Prediction
Learner Tien vs Mariano Navone
Head-to-Head: Tien 1-1 Navone
Learner Tien is one of the brightest young talents on the ATP Tour, and he has once again proved this week how fast a learner he is. He is in his first-ever clay-court final, and he reached it in style by defeating the #2 seed Alexander Bublik in a deciding set tiebreak. This is a huge improvement in his game on this surface from last year, and should help him make a good run at the French Open.
Mariano Navone won his first ATP Title earlier this season in Bucharest, and he has since continued playing at a high level. On clay, Navone has lost just one match to a lower-ranked opponent this season, which shows his incredible consistency and floor level. The Argentine defeated three-time Geneva Open champion Casper Ruud in the semifinals. Ruud looked tired, and Navone is a brutal matchup for anyone when not at their best.
Navone and Tien have split their two past meetings, but ATP Geneva is their first time playing on clay. Tien has played some quality opponents this week, but none of them had the consistency and grinding skills like Navone possesses. Navone will play with a lot of spin, construct points and wear Tien down. There should be many long rallies in this match, as neither player has a great serve, and I think that should favour Navone, who will back himself to win the battle from the baseline.
Prediction: Navone in 3
