Victoria Mboko in action ahead of the Australian Open.

WTA Strasbourg Day 2 Predictions Including Victoria Mboko vs Lois Boisson

This week’s WTA event in Strasbourg doesn’t exactly feature a star-studded field, as expected from an event played the week before the French Open, but it still has a very decent field all things considered, with several looking to fine tune their game and find their best form ahead of the second Slam of the year, as well as maybe seize a rare opportunity to win a title at WTA level.

WTA Strasbourg Day 2 Predictions

Peyton Stearns vs Daria Kasatkina

Head-to-head: Kasatkina 3-2 Stearns

Their head-to-head history has been extremely balanced thus far and the same is to be expected here. That said, Kasatkina has been generally playing better during this clay season and even had an excellent run through qualifying to make the main draw, where she also played great tennis in the first round. It should be a close match either way, but judging by recent form Kasatkina should be able to edge it out.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 3

Shuai Zhang vs Cristina Bucsa

Head-to-head: Zhang 3-0 Bucsa

While Bucsa is the clearly higher ranked player, Zhang has won all three matches and all six sets that the pair have played, showing that she is quite comfortable in this matchup. That said, the most recent matchup was in 2022, and four years later this should be a good opportunity for Bucsa to finally get a first win in this matchup.
Prediction: Bucsa in 3

Victoria Mboko vs Lois Boisson

Head-to-head: first meeting

Mboko is the highest ranked player in the draw and naturally a clear candidate to win this trophy. That said, she hasn’t been playing much lately, with this being only her second match on clay this season. More than anything, she will be looking to play some matches this week to gain some confidence and momentum ahead of Roland Garros. She should be able to at least get past this first match, even if Boisson won’t make it easy for her.
Prediction: Mboko in 3
