Jerome Kym had a lot of firsts this year. He won his first match at the Majors level, reaching the third round at the US Open. The Swiss reached the Top 125 with his career high standing at 123 and he reached his first ever quarterfinal on the main tour.
Disappointing First Half
Jerome Kym did not have a great first half of the season. There were decent expectations from him after winning a couple of challenger events in 2024 but Kym struggled big time on the Challenger circuit and in qualifying for the Majors. He only managed to reach till the semi final stages of Challenger events while the majority of his results were very poor.
While he did win a title at a Challenger event in doubles, he only managed to reach the semifinals in singles thrice. The Swiss only won one match in qualifying across the first three Major tournaments.
Exciting Second Half
Things took a very drastic turn with a wild card slot for Kym in his home country event at Gstaad. The Swiss managed to impress a lot of people with a quarterfinal showing at a main tour event and he looked highly competitive in his quarterfinal loss to Arthur Cazaux as well.
Kym seemed to have grown in confidence from there onwards as another semi final showing at a Challenger event followed and the Swiss seemed in much better shape for the US Open qualifying. Kym did not disappoint. He dominated the three qualifying matches and then went on to win two rounds for his first ever wins at the Major level. The Swiss bowed out in the third round but not before taking a set out of Taylor Fritz.
2026 Outlook
Kym did not play much after the US Open maybe due to an injury, but come 2026 he should be well-rested and motivated to build on strong second half in 2025. The 23 year old has to make a good start especially at the Challenger events to steadily climb up the rankings which right now stands at 188.
Expect to see a lot of Jerome Kym in 2026 as he has the game and mentality to make tennis fans take notice.
