Mirra Andreeva in action at Wimbledon.

WTA Montreal Day 3 Predictions Including Mirra Andreeva vs Bianca Andreescu

Bianca Andreescu is perennially on the comeback trail, but the 2019 US Open champion still has plenty of eyes on her, no matter how she’s doing. To have her take on Mirra Andreeva, touted to be a Slam winner very soon, in Canada will be quite special. It’s the first meeting between the two as other home hope Victoria Mboko also faces Sofia Kenin on Tuesday. Who do you think will advance to the next round? We have predictions for every day 3 match at WTA Montreal.

WTA Montreal Day 3 Predictions

Alycia Parks vs Caty McNally

Head-to-head: 1-1

Caty McNally was the only player to take a set off Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon and as it turns out, that performance inspired her to start dominating on the lower circuits. Since then, she won ten matches in a row with titles at the WTA 125 in Newport and an ITF in Evansville. While she could be arriving in Montreal a bit gassed, Alycia Parks seems like a favorable draw right now. McNally can disrupt rhythm and Parks has been hitting herself off the court way more often than not recently.
Prediction: McNally in 2

Sofia Kenin vs Victoria Mboko

Head-to-head: First meeting

This is Victoria Mboko’s first proper chance at her home country’s WTA 1000 and after the year she’s had, expectations are understandably quite high. The Canadian still has a lot of experience to pick up and there are flaws in her game that need ironing out. But the raw potential is insane and she’s not quite as low-margin as you think. She and Sofia Kenin seem to be representing a similar level right now, despite the ranking gap, and with crowd support, I’d lean towards the 18-year-old.
Prediction: Mboko in 3

Mirra Andreeva vs Bianca Andreescu

Head-to-head: First meeting

This could still be an incredible matchup in the future, but it will depend on Bianca Andreescu getting healthier. There are some question marks in terms of her fitness again after she outplayed Barbora Krejcikova in the first round, getting hurt during the last few points and still finding her way to the finish line. She’ll need an inspired effort to take out somebody as strong as Mirra Andreeva, so any extra obstacles on her way don’t bode well at all.
Prediction: Andreeva in 3

About Damian Kust

Damian is a connoisseur of the lower tiers of men's tennis and would probably watch the World No. 700 play a ferret if he could see it from the stands. Always pleased by a beautiful one-handed backhand or classic volleying technique.
