The grass court season is well underway with ATP Halle Open 2025 serving up as one of the two 500 series events we have on the main tour this week. We have a great mix of matches and as ever, we preview and predict all matches for you.
ATP Halle Day 3 Predictions
Round of 32
Zizou Bergs vs Karen Khachanov
Head-to-head – Bergs 0-1 Khachanov
This is an interesting matchup purely because both players love the baseline and we can expect great rallies. Zizou Bergs has a healthy win-loss record of 21-13 this year including a final appearance last week at the Libema Open in Netherlands. He faces Karen Khachanov, who beat him once back in 2020, but Bergs should be the one more confident on a surface that Khachanov doesn’t generally play very well.
Prediction: Bergs in 2
Marcos Giron vs Alexander Zverev
Head-to-head – Giron 0-3 Zverev
Marcos Giron returns to the courts first time after his first round exit at the French Open. The American will start as the underdog against the second seed Alexander Zverev who reached the final last week in Stuttgart. Zverev lost in straight sets in the final but the German has played well in this tournament and should overpower Giron in all facets of the game.
Prediction: Zverev in 2
Round of 16
Alex Michelsen vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
Head-to-head – Michelsen 2-0 Tsitsipas
This will be an interesting matchup for Stefanos Tsitsipas. He has lost on both occasions to Alex Michelsen, including this year at the Australian Open. Michelsen is young and has risen quickly and a good week may just put him in the dark horse category for Wimbledon. Tsitsipas needed a third set tiebreaker to move ahead here while Michelsen took out the fifth seed Francisco Cerundolo. Expect a tight match but in best of three, the Greek does play an enviable brand of tennis especially on grass.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in 3
Daniil Medvedev vs Quentin Halys
Head-to-head – Medvedev 1-0 Halys
It will be interesting to see how Daniil Medvedev plays on the grass this year. It has not been a great year for him so far but he reached the semifinals last year at Wimbledon so he can play well on grass. He looked solid in his first round match and his next opponent Quentin Halys should not pose major problems. Expect Medvedev to frustrate Halys and counter the Frenchman’s game play with his defense.
Prediction: Medvedev in 2
