ATP Geneva Day 4 Predictions Including Taylor Fritz vs Quentin Halys

Taylor Fritz is the top seed at the ATP 250 in Geneva, trying to find some last-minute rhythm before Roland Garros after losing in the opening round in Rome. However, his appearance at this venue last year wasn’t any longer as he bombed out to Alex Michelsen. Can he avoid the same fate against the dangerous big-hitter Quentin Halys? Who do you think will prevail?

ATP Geneva Day 4 Predictions

Arthur Rinderknech vs Hubert Hurkacz

Head-to-head: Hurkacz 3-0

Grabbing main tour wins has been difficult for Arthur Rinderknech this year and he’s at a comfortable position in the rankings only due to results from the latter half of 2024. Even this first-round victory over Miomir Kecmanovic must mean a lot. His playstyle isn’t what typically helps you succeed on clay, but especially in the Geneva conditions he can be dangerous. The weapons still bite and he can protect that backhand corner a bit better. Serving well will be a requirement here and Hubert Hurkacz still has the edge, but a close scoreline is likely.
Prediction: Hurkacz in 2

Cameron Norrie vs Tomas Machac

Head-to-head: Norrie 1-0

Regardless of what you think about Cameron Norrie’s draw in Geneva so far, having three straight-set wins under his belt can’t be bad. It’s also been a very quiet clay season for Tomas Machac, who was the runner-up at this venue last year and is now defending these points. The conditions suit his attacking game, but he’s been struggling to stay fit over the last few months. Norrie will probably start well and then we’ll see if Machac finds the response. He’s got the higher upside but needs to play one of his best matches in months.
Prediction: Machac in 3

Taylor Fritz vs Quentin Halys

Head-to-head: First meeting

Taylor Fritz was struggling with an abdominal injury this year and while he seems to be back in shape now, his form in Madrid and Rome was nowhere near where it can be even on clay. He might find a way to bounce back in Geneva, but it’s a difficult draw. Quentin Halys made a final in similar conditions in Gstaad last year and posted a great win over Jaume Munar in the opening round. This will be a big-hitting contest and Fritz will need to work very hard to hold off Halys. Especially in the opening round, the Frenchman has a shot at the upset.
Prediction: Halys in 3

About Damian Kust

Damian is a connoisseur of the lower tiers of men's tennis and would probably watch the World No. 700 play a ferret if he could see it from the stands. Always pleased by a beautiful one-handed backhand or classic volleying technique.
