The 2025 edition of the ATP Madrid Open 2025 is heating up with top seeds in action for the first time this week. As ever, we preview and predict the matches scheduled for you.
ATP Madrid Day 4 Predictions
Gabriel Diallo vs Kamil Majchrzak
Head-to-head – First Meeting
This is going to be a battle of the lucky losers as both players lost in the qualifying rounds but find themselves in the Round of 64 due to withdrawals from others. Gabriel Diallo is tall and young and this is his first main draw appearance in over a month. The Canadian impressed in his first round match while Kamil Majchrzak is coming off of a Challenger tournament win. Expect a tight battle with Majchrzak just inching ahead due to his recent form on the clay courts.
Prediction: Majchrzak in 3
Luciano Darderi vs Frances Tiafoe
Head-to-head – Darderi 0-1 Tiafoe
Luciano Darderi has impressed this clay court season having already won a title this year. The young Italian has carried that form into Madrid this week with a commanding win in his first round. He now faces Frances Tiafoe, who is yet to find his footing this year, especially on clay. Expect Darderi to be primed for an upset here.
Prediction: Darderi in 3
Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Lorenzo Musetti
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Tomas Martin Etcheverry endured a lengthy battle in his first round here, and his recovery will be key if he wants to have any chance of beating this year Monte Carlo’s finalist Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian withdrew from Barcelona last week and it remains to be seen if he is fully recovered. Expect Musetti to be in form if he is fully fit and progress ahead.
Prediction: Musetti in 2
Novak Djokovic vs Matteo Arnaldi
Head-to-head – First Meeting
This could be an interesting match and may just be the perfect match up for Novak Djokovic. He faces Matteo Arnaldi, a great young talent but with a one-dimensional baseline game style, which should suit Djokovic perfectly to settle in this week. Expect Djokovic to start strong here.
Prediction: Djokovic in 3
