Here are my best bets for the WTA Madrid Open. My feature match is Elina Avanesyan vs Caroline Dolehide. Alexandra Eala returns for the first time since her incredible showing in Miami. Do you think I was on the mark with my bets? Let me know in the comments below if you think I chose well.
WTA Madrid Open
Avanesyan – Dolehide: Time 11:00
H2H: 2-0
Elina Avanesyan and Caroline Dolehide meet for the first time since the China Open in Beijing in 2024. While Avanesyan has the all-time advantage at 2-1, Dolehide took their only meeting on clay at the 2022 French Open. That win did not come easily. Their meeting went three sets, as did their last meeting in Beijing. These two have a flair for the dramatic when playing.
Best Bet to Make
The books love this match, and you can cash out on either lady. The favorite is Avanesyan at 1.66, while Dolehide is 2.45 in a straight upset. There’s value in betting straight, over-under, or even picking games. A couple of my favorites are 2.48 for over 2.5 sets or over 21.5 games at 1.91, as these two love to push each other to the brink. Look for Avenesyan to assert her dominance on clay and dictate the majority of the match on her terms. Her baseline play got her this far, it should see her through Dolehide in Madrid.
That being said, Avenesyan winning is a value bet for sure.
Value bet/ the best odds: Avanesyan winning @1.66 @Pinnacle
Tomova – Eala: Time 11:00
H2H: 0-0
This is Alexandra Eala’s first WTA match since her incredible performance in Miami. Viktoriya Tomova hasn’t played since Charleston, enjoying almost a month off. She ought to be well-rested and fully healthy for this showdown. Tomova is struggling lately and has only won four of her last ten matches. Eala should be as confident as ever, so one would expect her to take it to Tomova immediately to see how she responds. If Eala can get out to an early lead, expect her to finish it strong.

Best Bet to Make
The books have Eala winning, and I disagree. I know that Tomova is rested, but that’s not why she’s the favorite. At 289-16 on clay, Tomova has a wealth of experience and understanding on clay. Eala is trying to put together a winning record on clay first, as she’s 13-18 for her career on clay courts. I know Eala hit huge for me in the past on upsets, but this feels different. Not only is her opponent completely focused and healthy, she is a titan on the surface of play.
That being said, Tomova winning under is a value bet for sure.
Value bet/ the best odds: Tomova winning @2.27 @Pinnacle
Cirstea – Baptiste: Time 14:00
H2H: 0-0
Sorana-Mihaela Cirstea and Hailey Baptiste meet for the first time in Madrid. Cirstea is performing on clay for the first time in 2025, and she is trying to get her performances and career back on track after taking time off previously because her foot required surgery. Baptiste has had a back-and-forth 2025, with a quarterfinal appearance at the Auckland Open standing as her best showing. Both ladies need this win, but only won can win it.
Best Bet to Make
The books see this match as a tie, but that can’t happen. Baptiste’s best odds check in at 1.98, and Cirstea’s best odds are 2.00, so you could call Baptiste an extremely minute favorite. Unless you’re extremely sure of one player or the other, it might be wise to seek out a prop bet on this one, and my personal favorite is under 19.5 games at 2.65 or 2 sets to nil at 3.4.
That being said, Under 19.5 games is a value bet for sure.
