ATP 250 Marseille final

Medjedovic – Humbert: 16.02.2025 15:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Hamad Medjedovic has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Medjedovic represented Serbia in the Davis Cup. He defeated Rune and lost against Moller. ‘

Hamad won the opening round match against Collignon this week in Marseille in straight sets. He was great under pressure, saving all five breakpoints he offered. He broke Collignon’s serve once in each set, enough for a comfortable win. In the second round, Medjedovic upset Khachanov in straight sets. Besides losing his serve once, Medjedovic served well throughout the match. In the quarterfinals, Hamad defeated Altmaier in three sets. He failed to convert consecutive match points in the second set but still won in three sets. Hamad trailed 0-3 in the deciding set but stayed calm and turned it around. Today, in the semifinals, Medjedovic got his biggest career win, winning against Medvedev in straight sets as we predicted. He lost his serve at the beginning of the first and second sets. Other than that, Medjedovic was a better player throughout the match.

At the beginning of the season, Medjedovic played in Oeiras, winning the Challenger title on indoor hard courts. His biggest result happened in Belgrade, where he finished runner-up at an ATP 250 tournament. It is his first appearance in Marseille.

Ugo Humbert has won four of his last five matches. This is his fourth appearance in Marseille, where he is the defending champion.

Humbert won against Bublik in straight sets in his opening match, as we had predicted. He trailed 3-5 in the first set tiebreak but successfully turned it around. In the second set, Humbert easily won his service games and broke Bublik’s serve once, enough for a straight-set win. As we had predicted, Ugo won against Sonego in straight sets in the quarterfinals. He offered and saved three breakpoints. Once again, Ugo broke the opponent’s serve once in each set and won without problems. Today, in the semifinals, Humbert dominated against Bergs in straight sets, as we predicted. He offered and saved only one breakpoint. He continued breaking the opponent’s serve once in each set and once again served great throughout the match.

Ugo aims for his seventh ATP career title. He already has three ATP titles on indoor hard courts. Last year, he won the title against Dimitrov in the final in straight sets. This week, he hopes for a solid result to cement his top 20 status.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Medjedovic is the underdog in this matchup, but we disagree. Ugo will have a packed crowd on his side and is a more experienced player. However, Medjedovic defeated Khachanov and Medvedev in straight sets en route to the final. He thrives on indoor hard courts. Both players played well throughout the week, and we expect a very tight match with three possible sets.

That being said, Medjedovic covering the games handicap is a value bet.
