ATP 250 Auckland semifinals
Monfils – Basavareddy: 10.01.2025 01:00 CEST
H2H: 1-0
Gael Monfils has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Brisbane, Gael reached the second round, losing against Djokovic in straight sets. The Frenchman holds a 0-20 losing record against Novak. Here in Auckland, Monfils defeated Martinez after losing the first set 1-6. In the second round, Gael won against Struff in comfortable straight sets. Today, in the quarterfinals, Diaz Acosta had no answer for Gael’s serve. Monfils won 6-3 6-1 after spending around one hour on the court. Last year in Auckland, Gael lost his opening match against Marozsan in three tight sets.
Nishesh Basavareddy has won five straight matches and successfully qualified for the main draw tournament in Auckland. In the opening main draw round, Nishesh defeated Comesana easily in straight sets. In the 1/8-Finals, Basavareddy defeated Tabilo in three tight sets. Today, in the quarterfinals, Bsavareddy lost the opening set against Michelsen 2-6. However, a young American star turned the match around and qualified for the semifinals.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this will be a 50-50 match. Monfils played great this week. Basavareddy spent much more time on the court. We expect Gael to be a better player tomorrow due to his experience and current form.
That being said, Monfils winning is a value bet.

Borges – Bergs: 10.01.2025 02:30 CEST
H2H: 1-0
Nuno Borges has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Hong Kong, Borges was upset by Jaume Munar in the 1/8-Finals. Here in Auckland, Borges won all of his matches in three sets. In the opening round, Borges returned after being set down against Darderi. After that, in the 1/8-Finals, Borges once again lost the first set and once again came back by winning in three tight sets against Navone. Today, in the quarterfinals against Mensik, Borges lost the first set but ended up winning the match in three tight sets yet again. Last year in Auckland, Borges lost in the 1/8-Finals against Fils in straight sets.
Zizou Bergs has won five straight matches. Last week in Hong Kong, Bergs lost in the 1/8-Finals against Fils in tight straight sets. Here in Adelaide, Bergs successfully qualified for the main draw tournament. Zizou won against Becroft in straight sets in the opening main draw round. After that, Bergs had another easy match, winning against Nardi in the 1/8-Finals. His toughest challenge was today against Carballes Baena. Bergs lost the opening set 1-6 but kept his composure and turned the match around.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this will be a 50-50 match. Bergs spent way less time on the court than Borges. We believe he will be more rested in this match and win easily. Both players are in the Australian Open main draw, so they will be cautious tomorrow, preventing injuries.
That being said, Bergs winning is a value bet.
