Day three at the WTA Adelaide International will feature plenty of exciting action, with some top 10 players taking to the court, including a recent US Open finalist in Jessica Pegula. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the slate, including Jelena Ostapenko vs Madison Keys, but who will reach the last eight?
WTA Adelaide Day 3 Predictions
Ashlyn Krueger vs Paula Badosa
Head-to-head: Badosa 1-0 Krueger
Paula Badosa had a very nice comeback season in 2024 and will be looking to further build on it this year. The former world #2 hasn’t been playing great tennis so far in 2025, but her tough comback win against Peyton Stearns in her first match here might give her the confidence she needs to get going here. Ashlyn Krueger definitely has the same to make it tough, but Badosa should prevail.

Marketa Vondrousova vs Diana Shnaider
Head-to-head: first meeting
Diana Shnaider is one of the fastest rising young players on tour and she should reach the top 10 very soon. While Marketa Vondrousova is the more accomplished player overall – and, it must be remembered, a Grand Slam champion – at the moment Shnaider looks like the better player and should have a slight edge here, even if it should be quite a close match decided by small details.
Prediction: Shnaider in 3
Emerson Jones vs Daria Kasatkina
Head-to-head: first meeting
16-year-old Emerson Jones was extremely impressive in her first round here, but facing a top 10 player in Kasatkina is a big step up in the quality of opposition. While she clearly has the talent to be a serious contender in the future and will have the backing of the home crowd here on home turf at the WTA Adelaide International, at this point in their respective careers Kasatkina should have too much quality and experience and should prevail in the end.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 2

Jessica Pegula vs Maria Sakkari
Head-to-head: Pegula 5-5 Sakkari
The head-to-head, with all ten matches in the past three years, shows just how evenly matched these two players are – notwithstanding the fact that Jessica Pegula is higher ranked at the moment. Both have been at the top of the game for a while despite struggling at Slam level, where both are still looking for a first Major triumph, and this match should be an extremely high quality and close contest. Ultimately, however, Pegula’s better recent form and greater confidence should prove to be the difference.
Prediction: Pegula in 3
